My Husband and I ate (for the second time) at this charming little restaurant last weekend. The Staff are SO lovely, helpful and kind. The whole establishment is extremely clean and uncluttered.Although it is a Pizzerie (take away as well) they produce a selection of delicious meat dishes with local vegetables, changing each week. The portions are rather large, but you can choose to have half pizzas if you wish.Easy parking.Child friendly.

Had a meal here on our last nights stay at the campsite. I had the nicest duck breast - beautifully cooked - with lovely fries. The vegetable accompaniment was a nice touch. The ice cream sundae was huge and very nice. We were a group of 7 and everyone enjoyed their meal.

Bien que le service était un peu long, nous avons dégusté un hamburger façon cévenol goûteux et. Rapport qualité-prix très raisonnable. Cadre plutôt banal, disposition de salle correcte.
Café - restaurant NouLou. Open from Monday to Sunday from 12.00 to 14.20 and 18.00 to 22.00 a bientôt!
Had dinner here with our family. Even though it was busy, the waiters were attentive and the food was brought quite quickly. The food we ate was delicious, all very fresh and tasteful. The meat was just right. Desserts were lovely as well. A very pleasant surprise in this otherwise quiet town.

Saint-Ambroix is not over-endowed with places to eat or drink so this new and quirky addition is very welcome. There is a good selection of local (and not so local wines) that can be ordered by the bottle or the glass - which proved a great way to try a wide variety of what was on offer.Food consists of cold plates of cheese and\or meats, including some interesting home-made cheeses. Typically, a different plat du jour is offered - we tried this on one of our three visits and we very impressed with the quality. What really makes the place stand out is the welcome - the restaurant is owner run and both the proprietors were very pleasant and made us feel most welcome. It is also possible to buy locally made items, including objets d'arts - we bought some locally made candles as presents. I would recommend that the restaurant offers the possibility of card payment in future - some of the items on sale are reasonably expensive and payment in cash may not always be an option. In summary, we enjoyed visiting the restaurant and will definitely go back if in the area in the future.

My wife and I stayed at the adjacent campsite run by the same company and decided to have our first night meal on the restaurantâs covered terrace. People at other tables were a mix of young and old in big and small parties. An excellent guitarist added to the relaxed atmosphere. The waiters were very willing but could not cope with the large amount of people. The food was creatively presented but slow to arrive and warm rather than hot. In addition, we were told that the electronic ordering system broke down causing further delays. This is a convenient restaurant for campers but better quality, service and value is available at LâAuberge dâAuzon a few minutes drive away.

We went for lunch at La Detente but turned up without a reservation which was not a good idea! However, the staff there were excellent and despite being full managed to find a table for us. Don't do what we did and make sure you book ahead! The atmosphere at La Detente is very relaxed and the food was very good. Overall we had an excellent lunch there and I would go back again but make sure I book a table.

Cosy little restaurant run by owners Gérard and Caroline. Caroline is the chef and does her magic in a tiny open kitchen overlooking the dining-room, while Gérard takes care of service and wines, and makes everybody feel specially welcome. Caroline's cuis
A very small, casual, out-back type place. Run by a couple, she as cook, and he, waiting on the tables. Several options on the menu were not available. Food was average. The zucchini gratin was floury and pasty. The foie gras on the beef had a strange texture. The profiteroles were homemade, very good, but a shame they put a low-quality industrial ice cream with it. Did not really appreciate seeing a dog wandering around inside the kitchen.Hello,I am sad to hear that your meal with us has not been as satisfying as we would have wished it to be.All our dishes are homemade from fresh ingredients -- no ready-mades coming out of the freezer! Therefore, sometimes one or two items from the menu may be missing due to unusually large demand on a given day. We sincerely regret this but it is the only way for us to serve you the freshest meals possible. We prepare everything in small quantities, making sure nothing stays in cold storage for more than one or two days.As I said, everything is homemade -- except for the ice cream, indeed! In France, restaurants churning their own ice cream have to face very severe regulations involving costly equipment that few care to invest in. We therefore buy our ice creams -- but I can assure you it is not "low-quality industrial ice cream", as you describe it.And as for dogs in the kitchen: my open kitchen is inside the dining room and of course my dogs do not have access to this space at any time of day, as customers eating indoors can easily verify. In summer they live in the courtyard at the back of the restaurant and every night they eagerly await the end of evening service, when the last customers are leaving and they are allowed to cross the dining room (at full pelt, in general) for a stroll outside. Otherwise, they do not set foot in the restaurant. We thank you for leaving a comment on our restaurant and we sincerely hope to see you again at l'Auberge d'Auzon.Caroline ClaveiroleChef-owner
