We are a friendly place located in the historic centre of Guimaraes, a World Heritage site since 2001. We serve traditional portuguese food, together with some contemporary dishes, but we are known for the "Francesinha", soaked in our own delicious secret
Dona Maria is right around the corner from the main square but virtually miles away from the main tourist routes. It was a fantastic random choice for lunch. Local specialty Francesinha is a sumptuous layered open sandwich with different meats, cheese and egg (tomato sauce is slightly overpowering). Stuffed mushrooms and garlic shrimps were also excellent. Bread was accompanied by tasty alioli (or, "alho" in Portuguese) sauce. Loved it.

We dined here with a large group and our dinner was served family style. Excellent meal, the heavy reliance on bread on the plate of starters being the exception. We especially enjoyed the deep-fried hake, tomato rice, and duck rice (with bits of sausage and topped with cheese, served casserole style). The plate of desserts included an exceptionally good chocolate mousse (dense, rich), lemon tart (topped with meringue), fresh fruit. On the starter plate, the codfish cakes were excellent. I'd definitely return here if I find myself in Guimaraes again.

A different restaurant, stylish with more international cuisine. Staff is professional however, sometimes a bit 'pushing'. Give your guests some time to settle and study the menu and winelist and never bring the bill to the table when your guests have not asked for it! This happened to us while we actually wanted to order a glass of local brandy with a second cup of coffee!

If you want to try the Portuguese food and you happen to be in Guimarães, I will strongly recommend you to visit Solar De Arco. Food is tasty, portions are large ( as in most Portuguese restaurants) and service is excellent. Donât forget to have dessert!

The concept was born by the love between Bárbara and Christian, wich create a cozy place with a contemporary touch. Le Babachris distinguishes itself by offering is customers an amazing experience, where simple ingredients give place to exquisite dishes w
Babachris was in my list of recommended restaurants. We arrived late in a rainy night without reservation but -to our surpise -it was almost empty. The waiter with excellent English ( ignoring my effort to speak Portuguese) explained to us the concept; a four plate menu or a six plate menu, both of them surprise menus! He asked of course if we had any allergies or anything that we couldn't eat and whether we wanted fish or meat for the main course. I must admit that we felt a bit worried not being used to anything similar but this only lasted until the first plate arrived. Raw sardines with cherries! Strange as it might sound it was one of the best plates I have ever tasted, deserving a Michelin star. Everything was perfect, I would call it fusion cuisine at its best. Later (when I finally got my chance to speak Portuguese) we found out that the chef is Spanish- French married to a Portuguese and they now live and work in Guimaraes; there you have it then- the miracle of love!

ok - I read some poor TripAdvisor reviews and wasn't sure about visiting Cantinho Dos Sabores but it was so close to our hotel I thought I would give it a try.Firstly, there was a line outside in the evening - which is a good sign.Once we got a table the staff were very enthusiastic about helping us.My wife and I had some great fish and followed it up with an amazing fluffy whipped egg desert. We liked our meal so much we went back again the next evening and had another first rate meal - my wife had the veal "special".If you are in Guimaraes then do try out Cantinho Dos Sabores.

Chic and stylish yet unpretentious restaurant overlooking a beautiful but quite square. Staff was knowledgeable and very attentive. The linguine with prawns could have been better, but the burrata was quite possibly the tastiest I ever had. Prices are fairly reasonable. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is nicely decorated, in an artistical way, and has a pleasant atmosphere. The service is very attentive. The menu is limited but the choices are enough. We took a carrot soup, a sirloin steak and shrimp risotto. The food was tasty, it had flavour, but for the price it comes in medium portions and did not really surprise us.

OMG what a wonderful find. The best dining experience in Guimaraes! Exceptional cuisine, small but perfectly formed menu, served by beautiful smiling friendly staff. What more could you ask for? Not to be missed.

âA Cozinha" By Chef Antonio Loureiro' is placed in the Historic Centre of Guimaraes, where creativity and tradition inspired by Portuguese flavors are presented creating a new concept of food. It is a Restaurant with inonvative tradition.
The food is very good and the service was excellent. However, the location, atmosphere, ambient (too much light??) and no bartender (can't order any cocktails or beers) left me wanting for more. For a Michelin star restaurant I was expecting more than just a very good meal. Sorry.
