Woody's Huntington Beach is one of our occasional dinner spots. Typically, we've been pleased with the meal quality, price and quantity. We've visited for happy hour, eaten at the bar and had sit down dinners with family in the dinning room. I brought visiting in-laws to Woody's but our last visit was a different experience. The prices have inched up, the quantities have shrunk and the dinner plates are missing important items. My father-in-law ordered fish and chips. When he got his dinner, there were no chips on the plate. Old pops had to pay extra for the chips in his fish-n-chips dinner. I ordered tacos and I got a plate of dry tacos but no beans or rice. My husband ordered chicken fried steak and got meat the size of a deck of Vegas playing cards, gravy that wouldn't dare spill over the tiny meat, one small round ice-cream scoop of mashed potatoes and approximately 3 ounces of veggies al dente. All our plates had more dish than food. Strangely, I've hated the kids meals at this restaurant because they bring children's food in a cardboard car lined with plastic that melts into microwaved food. I told my daughter that if she orders from the kids menu, she isn't allowed to order mac-n-cheese from this place because its toxic due to being served in melted plastic. My daughter ordered chicken fingers and fries. The food came in the car but without the plastic, lined in good quality wax paper and the quality of the food looked great. For the first time, the child's menu food looked like it was freshly cooked and I felt safe feeding my child here. I think we are done with Woody's. I typically avoid taking my child here anyhow. After the adult food looked like repurposed grocery store frozen meals, we really don't want to waste our time and money again. What happened to Woodys?

A large group of us went here for dinner and we were not disappointed! From the Parmesan truffle fries to the salmon sandwich, everything was fresh and tasty. I would eat here again and again. My only complaint was that the restaurant was hot until they turned on the AC. But once they did, everything was great.

Breakfast with my daughters. Omelet on point, Green Street style potatoes are really good. Smores French toast is something to share between 4 people. Made with Nutella. Fresh squeezed orange juice!!! Great experience and service always. Everyone is nice. Sports on the TVs. They serve wine and beer too!Seating indoor and outdoor. More parking in the back is available. Enjoy :)

The Diner was about 1/3 full. The waitress was at the table immediately. We were quite hungry so we ordered an appetizer of fresh made tortilla chips and guacamole. The chips were good, and NOT oily as some make them. I decided to try the Chicken Salad sandwich. It was quite good. It was made on Raisin toast and required a long toothpick to hold it together as it was probably 1 1/2" thick or bigger. The chicken salad had walnuts, cranberries, apples and celery. Really well done. My wife and mother in law had the chicken tortilla soup. Both commented that if they had known it would be that good, they would have ordered a larger serving. Everyone in my party ordered something different and all believed that the food was quite good. If I visit the area again, I would certainly consider dining here again. Meals and appetizer were about $70 for 5 adults.The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome there.

The address is Sunset Beach, which is between Seal Beach and Huntington Beach. Parking is a bit of a challenge. Seated ourselves and menus and water were dropped off almost immediately. Portion sizes are shareable. They were slammed just as we arrived so it took about 20 minutes after we ordered for our food to arrive. The vegetable beef soup was delicious and the right temperature. They have menu items that should please everyone except vegans.

I decided on the Seafood combo. Excellent selection. The decor was as it was in the 1950s. Rubyâs even had on the television set, Merry Melodies from the time. One of my personal favorites. The service was wonderful, and not much of a wait for our food.
