Have been going to Gills for years!!! Their grinders are excellent! When stationed in Germany in 1975 my sister visited us & brought my favorite grinder from Gills!!!! I would recommend anyone to go there! You have your day in how you like your grinder made!!!

With the death of the original owner (Maxie), I wondered if this place would make it. Known for overstuffed sandwiches, the best tuna in town - everyone was willing to overlook the dank, dark cluttered room in which you ordered your sandwiches. With the new owners, the place is cleaned up, no more clutter, better lighting and still great sandwiches! Probably not as much meat as we saw originally, but certainly better then other local chain sub shops (or grinders as they call them here). There is still no seating, just a take out place. Staff is nice and they are always busy! Call ahead if you can.

We stopped through here for sandwiches on our way to New Hampshire for the weekend had hopes of it being a good meal for the road. Unfortunately both sandwiches we purchased, the buffalo chicken and chicken Parmesan, had much to be desired. The buns were cold, the chicken was bland and disgusting, the sauce used was directly out of a can - we both could have cooked better than this. It was bland, boring, blah and unsatisfactory. The only perk was the Snapple out of the fridge which was both cold and refreshing. We will not be returning.

It's always great to have a little corner store in the neighborhood where you can grab a grocery item when you discover you're out. But beyond that, these guys have expanded to provide weekday sandwich and hot lunch items that are right up there with the dedicated delis in the area. Very "homemade" and very reasonable prices.
