Mixed platter and marrowbone as a starter. Dry aged côte de boeuf and âfalsche schneckenâ (filet in little pieces, baked with cafe de paris) plus pommes allumettes etc as a main courseFresh strawberries and pieplant pieces plus pieplant sauce with yoghurt ice cream and lava cake as a dessert.Everything was very good, very high quality. Very friendly service. A âfeeling to be at homeâ overcomes you. There was only one thing that was bad which was the service time. The food arrived (but they were busy). 40min until the starter and another 40-50 until the main course arrived. We arrived at the restaurant at around 8pm. BUT as an apology the dessert for all of us (3 people, almost CHF 50.-) was on the house which is very generous. We will come visit again for sure!

The atmosphere of a classic English pub â with a bar, a historic tiled stove, leather upholstery and soft lighting â doubles the pleasure of a superb meal accompanied by a glass of good wine or a draught beer. The lovely ambiance attracts a young and merr
We booked a table in advance for dinner on a night they had a jazz band. The place is quite small so I do recommend to make a reservation if thereâs an event. The waiter was very charismatic and friendly. We were however left waiting to order drinks on several occasions. The food was lovely. The presentation was on point, as would be expected for such a location. Prices were on the higher side and there was an additional 10chf charge for the band. Overall the value was reasonable for the evening. Dear JustRose_CHThank you for the comments on the Jazz evening and your rating. Excuse us for let you waiting for your orders. The jazz evenings are always very crouded. That is no excuse but an Explanation.Best regardsYour Sperber Team

When we booked we had no idea it was a surprise menu, so I was nonplussed when I asked see the menu. But do not fear! We were given the choice of fish, meat or vegetarian for starters and mains. Our fish starter - a carpaccio of sorts - was delicious and our main of lamb was also scrumptious. We finished with a very fine cheeseboard. We opted for accompanying wine, thinking we would get a glass per course, but were thrilled that the wine was be free-flowing, and also good quality, not all from Italy either. We had excellent service, attentive, knowledgeable and friendly (don't know why another reviewer groused about that - sometimes its down to personalities!) As a new resident to Basel, this restaurant is find. And we will be back!
