One of the most historic cities in America, Philadelphia is an ideal place to spend a weekend - preferably a long one. Be sure to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, where the Constitution and Declaration of Independence were signed. Both are part of Independence National Historic Park. Philadelphia also boasts some outstanding art museums, including the Rodin Museum. The Franklin Institute Science Museum is one of many area attractions honoring the life and work of Benjamin Franklin, the city's most famous ambassador. After digesting all of that history, be sure you save room for a classic Philly cheese steak sandwich.

Green Eggs Cafe

I am not one to weaponize TA, but I cannot stop thinking of the terrible experience I had at Green Eggs Cafe three days ago, and hope it will be a warning to others. I have a system where if I read a good review or get a tip on a place, I put it as a "starred place" on my Google Maps to check out when I have a chance. Green Eggs Cafe was just such an establishment. I had just run a 5K and was famished! I arrived at around 7:45 on a Saturday morning, to find they open at 0800. Two other parties had arrived around the same time, and we all chose sidewalk tables at which to sit. One was a table of three gentlemen, the other was of two. I was solo. At 0800, the hostess can out and had brief conversations with first the party of three, then the party of two. I could not hear what was said. She walked right past me without a word or eye contact. She then brought the three gents menus, and the two other gents got up to go into the restaurant. It was only then that I noticed that a line had formed at the entrance, whereas before that there had been none. I got up when the two started to go in (apparently to order carry-out), and I asked the hostess if I was going to be brought a menu. She told me that I had to go to the end of the line. I was so flabbergasted by this experience that I simply left. There are so many promising restaurants in Philly that it can be hard to choose where to go, but Green Eggs Cafe is no longer one of my starred places. Thanks for making my decision where to dine just a bit easier.

Sabrina's in Wynnewood has become our favored go-to breakfast spot during our visits to the Philly area the past two Summers. This month we visited three times. It is consistency well cooked egg dishes and excellent service. This years favorites for my wife were the create-your-own-omlets, and for me the huevos rancheros and the 2 eggs with scrapple. The potatoes are excellent.

We came here for drinks, and their wine list is fairly extensive and comes with detailed descriptions of each wine, which I love. The kitchen had already closed when we arrived, which is unfortunate - when people are drinking, it would be nice to at least have small snacks (like peanuts) available, especially at an upscale bar/restaurant. Otherwise, though, this establishment was very nice.Thank you for visiting Tria Taproom, and I'm glad you enjoyed your visit! And thank you for the kind review. Also, I appreciate your comments on the kitchen being open later. Hope to see you on your next trip to Philly!

This really popular café has fantastic meals with great portions. My forest mushroom frittata was amazing! I recommend adding yourself to the Yelp waitlist; I heard walk-ins for 2 or 3 people were told a 60-75 minute wait-time at around noon/12:30 PM. Because it was so crowded, the waitstaff were a bit harried, but our waitress was also very friendly and was able to make accommodations when we wanted to customize a dish.

We've been back here several times since I reviewed the Gran Caffe L'Aquila in downtown Philadelphia two years ago, And when a restaurant holds it's quality over that time, it deserves a fresh review and kudos for not losing its stroke. Since my last review was extensive, no need to be repetitious. Check out the menu. But better than menu items, this place has daily themed menus and great wine pairings inspired by regions in Italy. Sicily night this time. I strongly advise you to allow the server to guide you through the regional offerings and doubt you will be disappointed. And , of course, finish with the legendary gelato. our Amaretto Gelato with cookie was creamy and delicious. This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Philadelphia and for that matter, on the East Coast. We even went back for brunch on the morning after our dinner. I'd say it is high-end, price-wise, but what's not pricey at great restaurants?

Cafe La Maude

I often wonder why most restaurants who serve breakfast even need to print a menu. Most offer similar selections of pancakes, waffles and eggs prepared in the standard combinations. At Cafe La Maude, a menu is truly needed because they offer an inventive selection of breakfast specials. And, these breakfast specials contain a broad array of vegetables, sauces and bread that are not often found on a breakfast menu. But, most of all, the food is delicious. The prices are a little high relative to standard breakfast dishes. But, given the quality and quantity of food provided, I think the prices are reasonable. I can't wait to go back !
