I was excited that you can order breakfast at any time. I had the potato rancheros. It was delicious. The portions are really huge. I would definitely recommend.

My sister and I were in town visiting our grandpa and decided to cine here for dinner on a Saturday. The place was empty. Which was good because we could have a nice conversation. My fish and chips were good. Seemed like they battered them in house. My sister had the prime rib special. It was horrible. Prime rib was not fresh. Mashed potatoes out of a box and not from scratch gravy. Mixed veggies out of a freezer bag. Grandpa enjoyed his belt. Service was friendly. So if you go order a sandwich or fish and chips not the special.

We were passing through town and stopped for ice cream. The ice cream was good and the store had a great selection of retro candies. It was a can't miss combination. The owner was very friendly.

As you zip past the front of Whidbey Island NAS, you'll see what appears to be the CPO Club. A large "Bakerview" electric sign alerts you to upcoming specials. Don't be fooled. The restaurant IS open to the public. And during the day, it's the most amazing view of the water you'll find in Oak Harbor. The dining area reminds me a bit of Shari's cafes. Homey, lots of wood. A soda station is in one corner of the room. The kitchen is viewable through the main serving area. Tables are rather close together. The dinner menu is pretty ambitious, given that they do a meat (prime rib), a fish (either fried seafood platter or a grilled salmon special), chicken, and burgers. Our plates included green beans cooked al dente and roasted fingerling potatoes, with both the prime rib and the salmon. The key is that they do it all well. Very well. The grilled salmon in particular is every bit as good as the pricier places in other local towns. The prices are slightly less. Maybe not as little as you might be expecting from a "club", but that's not how they run the facilities anymore. The bread with the salad deserves its own mention. Soft pucks of sourdough, with a buttery flavor. I wanted a bag to take home, and seriously thought about snatching a platter on my way out.So yes, the service. They don't have a lot of traffic in the dining room on the Friday night dinners, so it's nice and quiet for a date. But the servers are overworked. The nights we've gone have seen two gals working, and one seemed new. We had to ask for the au jus which should have accompanied my prime rib, and we asked for more bread, but never got it. We weren't sure if we were supposed to get up and refill our own drinks, or wait for the server, so we waited. No water was given, so I guess you have to ask.In all, don't expect a high class experience. Expect good food, well cooked, and be prepared to ask for your missing items.
