We came as part of our tour package for a set meal of roast chicken. The main course included fresh broccoli and cauli - cooked just right ie not overcooked, and roast veg also cooked to perfection. The gravy for our group of 9 came in two 1,140ml bar jugs! Dessert was a choice of cut fresh fruits, cheesecake or pavlova. Service was enthusiastic and quick, but a bit haphazard.

Like all little town hotels it could do with some money spent on it. Friendly staff and great country style meals that fill the plate. Hi Steve. Thank you for your review back on 26th March and I apologies for my VERY VERY VERY late response! We are very pleased that you enjoyed your meals and found our staff friendly, we always strive for the highest service. You were right that hotel is a little tired. Being 115 years old the building does need a lot of love. We have been in the hotel for 5 years and in that time have done a lot of work (unfortunately behind the scenes where people cannot always see). Since your time here we have actually done a complete bathroom refurbishment which now has brand new female and male toilets, as well as an ambient toilet with baby changing facilities. In the coming months we will start on stage 2 of our Beer Garden and hopefully in the next 18 months to two years you will see our next stage of work beginning inside of the hotel. (if you have a look at our facebook page, Post Office Hotel Gulgong, you will see up to date photos of the hotel along with progression photos as we begin each stage of work)We thank you again for your review and are excited to see you in the future so you can see the improvements that are being made.

Was actually going elsewhere but the Bistro had a cosy fire and interesting enough menu. Partner had a pizza, great thin crust and good toppings. Beware chilli seems to suggest a slather of sweet chilli sauce over the top. Not our favourite way to eat pizza. I had the ribs and wedges , lip smacking enjoyable and not a green substance in sight. BBQ sauce for ribs and sweet chilli sauce with sour cream for the wedges. We both left satisfied.

Prince Of Wales Hotel

An historic brick facade outside but a lot of wood inside as though they're copying the stereotypical outback pub. Nice staff and patrons and it would be pretty good inside if it weren't so cold - the other pubs in town were advertising fires, they need one here, most customers kept their jackets on. The food's not bad though, I got a schnitzel served up in 5 minutes and it had pretty good chicken in a crispy batter with decent veges. Menu prices are all over the place and some things seem expensive but the schnitzel price was fine, although $2 extra for watery gravy was sneaky and a rip off.
