Find out what Argentinean restaurants to try in San Salvador. El Salvador's capital, San Salvador, is a modern city of wide boulevards and narrow streets, outdoor markets, government buildings, high-rises, monuments, an exuberant nightlife, museums and other cultural institutions. And all set against the backdrop of San Salvador volcano. The city is surrounded by shantytowns as well as affluent suburbs with restaurants and large shopping malls. Peaceful settings such as the botanic garden of Parque Cuscutlan provide a break from the city's hectic pace.

This restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel. It was difficult for us to find at first, it didn't display correctly in Google maps. I am glad we were persistent in finding it though, it was one of our favorite restaurants of our stay.We both ordered platters which had a variety of meats. One was the "Gaucho" which had a steak, chicken, pork, chirizo, and potato. The other was the Uruguayan which had steak, chirizo and a variety of 4 organs such as heart. Both platters also came with bread, salad, sauces and consomme. Absolutely delicious! Each platter was in the $9-10 range, unreal!

If anyone ever tells you that it is just about the food they have never been to a country mountain top restaurant. Here the environment is everything, getting away from the stereotypical restaurant, be it in Chicago, NY, Boston, San Francisco, LA, wherever, at the end of the day the decoration and layout may be different but they are all basically the same so it really is just about the food. This place is a breath of fresh air (literally) and you will feel relaxed and at peace no matter what you eat. Regarding the food, our waiter was kind enough to bring out the different cuts of beef and explain them to us (this is not what they typically do here), as in any good Argentinian Restaurant everything is cooked on a raging (I believe, wood) fire. Our appetizers were great, our beef was very good, the drinks were excellent and the experience was fantastic. It is about 35 minutes from the city if there is no traffic (good luck with that) there is free parking and there are other similar restaurants in the general area if you don't want beef.
