Pompton Queen Diner

Pompton Queen Diner is a family-owned and operated diner since 1987. Pompton Queen is not your typical diner. Our modern and clean restaurant, outdoor patio, and extensive menu landed us as one of the top diners to eat in New Jersey. Our service is specta

After a business meeting we ordered takeout at this diner. A year ago we visited this diner and the food and service was great. This time we ordered breakfast entrees including eggs, toast and waffle combo. It was absolutely horrible and uneatible. The scrambled eggs were hard, no toast was included, the sausage was turkey sausage with a bad taste, and the waffle batter had too much water. The dessert was supposed to be tiramisu, but it wasn't. All in all, we were not able to eat this meal and were extremely disappointed. I do not recommend this diner. What you're describing sounds like a far cry from the delicious diner classics we've made our name on -- I'm concerned that this was your experience. Everything you ordered, from the scrambled eggs to the waffles, should have been incredible, and if it wasn't, we want to know about it so we can do our best to make it right in the moment. I hope we can get another chance to impress you, showing you the food you loved from us a year ago. Best, Sam M.

Sabrets products proudly served here. The dogs have a nice snap to them without being over done. The fries are the shoestring variety, nice flavor and consistency, not greasy. There are a few bar stools at a counter, high enough to stand and eat. Good selection of drinks and snacks. Decently priced, two dogs and a drink is $5 and change. They're also equipped to supply the fixins for larger affairs (bbqs and tailgate parties). I'd definitely go back.

Our friends and my wife and I dined at Luca this past Saturday and had a delicious dinner. At Luca you can order a pizza or have a full Italian meal in a casual, cozy and relaxed atmosphere with white tablecloths and linen napkins. Luca should not be categorized as a pizzeria, but rather a nice Italian trattoria. Luca is a byob restaurant. We began with appetizers of stuffed mushrooms and calamari in a lemon and white wine sauce. Both were very good. The calamari was tender and the sauce perfectly complimented the dish. Entrees were veal parmigiana, veal francese, veal with sundried tomatoes in a cognac sauce and a rolled veal stuffed with prosciutto and cheese in a sherry sauce. All were accompanied with a salad and a side of pasta. Portions were very generous. Everyone thought their meal was delicious. We will all definitely return.

I was too early for an appointment nearby so I stopped her to have lunch. It was good. Service was good and the food was good. Decent size burger and fries were good. Nothing to complain about but nothing special either. From the outside the windows are all dark and you can't really see inside. This bothered me for some reason, especially for a diner. I think of a diner as being right and airy, not dark and mysterious. I really had no idea if there were any other patrons inside until I went inside myself. Not that big of a deal to most people, I suppose.

We've been eating at this Irish themed diner for the six years it's been under this ownership, and it is always a pleasure. Last Friday was no exception. The waitresses were filled with funny comments making my usually dour son smile despite himself. It's great fun to sit at the bar and gab with the help, but we were doing business, so sat in a corner table. There are two lines of tables, close together, but doable. The fish and chips appealed to us both, and the fish was perfectly prepared -- crunchy on the outside, warm and comforting on the inside. Neither of us care for their large cut potato fries -- they need to be a bit smaller and cooked longer -- a modest negative.Oakland is really lucky to have two excellent diners, one at the north end of 202 -- this one -- and one at the south end -- the Oakland Diner. Both great.
