When OFIA took over the space occupied by the late and unlamented Ramji's, we were encouraged that the charming space would be home to a restaurant that would attract locals and visitors alike. Owners, Scott and Lynette Tieder, have fulfilled this wish. Fresh, locally sourced, inspired food and delicious baked goods are hallmarks of Crestone's premier culinary couple. Their restaurant would be a success in any town, but in the gorgeous Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Tieders have created a dining experience as memorable as the Crestone setting.
Crestone's newest Cafe and Restaurant, offering a full espresso bar, breakfast and lunch all day. Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-Free and Traditional Foods.
Wow is Crestone fortunate to have the wonderful Mystic Rose open to satisfy every appetite. The half pound burger was cooked to medium rare perfection, served on an excellent bun, and accompanied by a delicious potato salad. The Jubilant Salad was divine served with hot crunchy/soft dinner rolls and butter, it made a delicious and satisfying meal. Three kinds of homemade soup (2 vegan) were offered and looked great. The Mystic Rose offers a set menu and daily specials in a relaxed, calm and peaceful setting. The patio is open and well as two dining areas, The owners Andrew and Sally are charming and hospitable. We will definitely return to work our way through the menu.
I had a veggie sandwich. They were out of a couple of ingredients as this was the last day they would be open. I think not just for the season, but forever. I had them add bacon and extra tomatoes to make up for lack of zucchini. It was served on sourdough toast with a side of fries. It was good and cheesy. The fries were a bit raw, but that's how I like them! Ha! Most people probably don't like them that way. My boyfriend had 3 eggs over easy, bacon & a muffin, he said it was just fine. I ordered a Diet Coke, which they didn't have , & they offered to run across the street to the market to get. I didn't want them to go to all that trouble & asked if I could bring in my diet Sunkist from my car, & she said sure. I'm sure this place was great when it was in full swing in the summer, but since we happened to be there on the last day it had a sad vibe to it. Perhaps they will re-open in a new location as there aren't many options for breakfast in Crestone.

Yes, the Desert Sage has it all, and it's all delicious. The ama datzi isn't for the faint of heart, however. Bhutanese see chili as a major component of their cuisine. Desserts are also wonderful. Only the chai left something to be desired. Cardamon to be exact.

Definitely the place to go in the evenings in Crestone - it's right in the center of it!Great beer selection, wine & menu - wish we could've had something on the menu.. well, actually ANYTHING on the menu but we arrived at 8pm, there were very few items available and by the time we decided to order (our fault, we got distracted), the kitchen closed at 8:30 because they were all of out of everything. Now here's what I loved about this fact... everything is fresh & local which means they served everything they had and no food was wasted. The only part they need to work on is the staff & their sense of urgency. Not sure if it was the bartender or kitchen that dropped the ball but once we decided on what we wanted 10 minutes later, our window of opportunity had closed.
