If you like fried seafood then this is the place for you! I didn’t like the fact they don’t allow substitutes for anything i.e.Onion rings instead of fries. We left feeling so stuffed and realized we can’t eat fried seafood more than once per year.

Our family just arrived in Salem and wanted a great, filling lunch that wasn’t outrageously expensive! And, we all wanted seafood. The reviews on Trip Advisor for Dot & Ray’s were spot on! Three of us had fried haddock (sandwich/meal)and one had a lobster roll (on a gluten free bun). We had sweet potato fries, onion rings, & regular fries. The best out of the 3 were sweet potato fries. Get those! Prices were between $7-15 for meals. This is a “dive”-truly nothing fancy, but the price was right for the delicious food along with friendly service!

My ticket for Salem Witch Museum indicated that I could get a discount here, so I went. Unfortunately, the discount applied to food only, & I only wanted a drink. Also, unfortunately, they were out of my 1st choice in beer. But, the server/bartender was friendly, & this was a great place to kill about an hour on a rainy afternoon.

We were here with part of a wedding party the day after the wedding. We had just finished breakfast, so we weren't really hungry, but I ordered a cider and my husband got a drink. We were outside and the people in our party were going and coming, so I'm sure we weren't a favorite, but drinks took a LONG time to come out. By the time we got them, I was getting a little hungry, so I ordered some fries and my husband got nachos. Food took awhile as well. Nothing was wrong with our experience really, it just wasn't super memorable.

Great local restaurant and fish market. Had the 1.5 pound lobster with rice pilaf and cole slaw. Outstanding!!! Definitely will return and try other items as well. Great service and the owner was very personable and ensured our entire Defenders group was satisfied. Very much so! Prices reasonable. Highly recommend.

After visiting sites on the Freedom Trail and taking the water taxi to the Wharf/Aquarium area, we were starving and ready for lunch. I’ve been to Boston twice before and always wanted to try Legal Seafood. Two locals actually suggested eating there. It was right there near the water taxi and there wasn’t a wait. We both ate crab cake sandwiches, fries, and coleslaw. Nothing fancy. We had already had seafood (lobster) earlier in the trip and just wanted a simple sandwich. The service was friendly, the food was tasty, and we were seated/served pretty quickly. I will be honest we chose to eat here because of convenience of location and the recommendations, but it was overall a good experience.

We sat on the patio, in the sun, with a view of the water. I had the Hot for Teacher and the Old Fashioned cocktails and both were really good. I got the half pound steamed crab with butter. Sooo good! My dad had lobster Mac and we shared apple cobbler. Service was great. Especially when my 2nd Old Fashioned was not good like the 1st one and he took it off the bill.

The food was very good and ample.
