We met friends for lunch and all but one ordered bbq. Everyone's plate was cleaned when we were done. The brisket and sausage sandwich was great and so was the pulled pork sandwich. The blueberry lemonade was very refreshing and the blueberry pie and blueberry ice cream was the perfect ending. Do not miss this place.

Perfect stop to have a delicious meal in the Acadia region. Serving award winning BBQ and fresh local seafood.
The lobster roll had the least lobster on it out of multiple restaurants we tried in the area. The roll was not even opened... there was just some lobster on top of it making it look larger than it was. The haddock sandwich was very tasty. The coleslaw was bland. The french fries appeared to be fried twice and were hard. I couldn't even eat them. Based on the other reviews I would stick with the bbq.

We stopped by Flander's Bay BBQ for lunch and were not disappointed! We had the smokey Pulled Pork Sandwich smothered in their delicious 'Mud Sauce' with their tangy homemade coleslaw and yummy cornbread. The owner was VERY nice and the service was quick. We will return - I just wish I took a couple of pictures to share with all of you!

We found this place across the road from Marden's and next to Super Shoes along the highway in Ellsworth by accident. Had the brisket and pulled pork meals. Meals came with 1/2lb meat (at least but I think the brisket was more), bun, cornbread, beans or coleslaw. Two sauces available -- regular and hot (seems to have a touch of habanero for the hot one). Cost was $20 for both meals ($10 each). Sandwiches are $7-9. Can buy it by the pound, as a meal, as a sandwich, or as a sampler platter ($35 I think for the sampler). My wife and four kids all loved it. Meats available include: brisket, chicken, pork, sweet sausage, ribs.Brisket was the most flavorful I've had anywhere (note: I haven't been to Texas). The rub was nicely caramelized and really didn't need any sauce. Smoke ring was clearly evident, smoke flavor was well balanced with the rub and flavor of the meat. Meat was moist and tender with a perfect balance of flavor and texture.Pulled pork was lightly rubbed and great with the sauce. Perfectly cooked, not dry at all.Beans were sweet with a delicious sweet sausage mixed in. My 10 year old daughter kept raving about them and I wouldn't say she was a bean eater. Cornbread was a large slice, moist, not crumbly, and had a nice flavor and yellow color. This is the best quality and best priced BBQ I've seen anywhere in the area (e.g. State of Maine). This is particularly good as many restaurants in the area are expensive (tourist, seasonal pricing). The owner, David, is a classically trained chef with 17 years experience in the BBQ domain. He does a great job. The portions were large. My four kids, wife, and I had eaten breakfast about 2-3 hours prior so were almost ready for lunch. This fed us all which held my kids over until 5pm (some 6 hours) when we had supper. I would certainly come back and hope he is there next time we come.
