Hickory Stick

A 70 seat restaurant that is part of The Grove Golf Centre, 2 miles outside Leominster. We have a varied menu to suit all tastes, catering for all dietary requirements. I deal for an intimate meal for 2, family Get togethers or larger celebration dinners.

The venue is superb and has been extremely well co-ordinated with the adjacent bowling alley and golf course. It was a Sat evening and there was one staff doing bar/bowling/orders/telephone plus a waitress working extremely hard. Evening meal with a large party and felt like a Caesar salad so ordered the Chicken Caesar salad. The meals were served erratically and the only starter ordered appeared last, with mains to follow.
My Caesar salad was a collection of shredded mingonette and radicchio lettuce leaves with some rocket thrown in for taste, exactly the same lettuce mix served with the burgers. There was no crunchy leaves, of romaine or even cos lettuce and the dressing was non-descript.
A message addressing this meal dressed up on the menu as a Caesar salad was met with a rebuke by the "Maitre de", if he could be called that, and comments about the law concerning eggs. His final comment was that this was the house interpretation of a Caesar salad and I was then asked to apologise to the neighbouring table for mentioning the state of the Caesar salad in front of them!

The Angel

The Angel is one of Herefordshire's best kept secrets! Tucked away in the sleeply black and white village of Kingsland, the Angel delivers the best in ales, good wines and the freshest local food, in a beautifully appointed village pub.

Reviewed By Anita1967 - Stratford-upon-Avon, United Kingdom

The Angel is a friendly, local, characterful pub and the staff are very efficient and they get the service just right. There were 4 meats available (turkey, beef, lamb and pork). Although there weren't any fish or vegetarian options, the waitress checked with the chef and they were able to cook me fish and chips which was excellent. Beef is cooked well done so if you like it rare it won't be for you. Tables are quite close together but we had booked the round table on the left in the window as soon as you walk in which can seat up to 6 people and has space around it. Although the bill wasn't quite right in regards to the drinks part, it was all sorted out in good humour with the bar staff.

Thursday night is Curry Night
I have the Chicken Tikka with all the bits, Mrs B has the Vegan curry and its spot on and young grandson has the ham, egg and chips.
Beer & tonic come with the meal deal and a pint of Orange juice for G'son.
It's Wetherspoons and they do value for money.
The food is good. Tasty and interesting (as a curry), helpings are sensible ~ you can always order the extras
The drinks were good and it has friendly service.
It's not a fancy restaurant, its good grub & drink at a very good price
The Duke's Head is one of the better Wetherspoons! Nice little booths and plenty of more open Seating, an open fire, clean loos upstairs and a carpet that you don't get stuck to!
I'm going to try the order from your table App next time.
Thanks Wetherspoons.

This cafe / restaurant is located right in the centre of Leominster. It is in a period building which also houses an antique centre.
I visited for lunch and enjoyed a quiche salad for £6.75. It was quite a large cage and also came with coleslaw and potato salad.
The tableservice was very pleasant.

A long established, popular family business our food is reasonably priced and of a consistently a high quality. With quite a large and varied menu we have aim to please everyone. Barista trained staff ensure a great cup of coffee and a happy atmosphere.

Reviewed By Ian J - United Kingdom

Having left several good reviews in the past we have recently become concerned that standards have clearly slipped on three recent occasions that our family has commented upon.
Firstly, we went for breakfast a couple of weeks ago, my wife ordered the American pancakes off the board. A few minutes later, we were advised there was no Maple syrup so would we like golden syrup?
Then, a few days later my daughter called in for lunch and ordered lasagne. When it arrived she was so disappointed as there was hardly any meat but lots of large chunks of onion? She found it inedible but did not have time to complain and reorder.
Then yesterday we called in mid morning for two bacon rolls to take away. Apparently there was only two slices of bacon left so one bacon and sausage roll was ordered and a sausage roll. When we got home, we found the roll had been spread with a thick layer of a vegetable spread which was awful, the bacon had undercooked white fat around the edge and the sausage was burned.
None of these examples are typical of the standard we are used to at the Flying Dutchman!
How sad if things really are slipping!

The Stockton Cross

The Stockton Cross Inn is a 16th century black and white pub in Kimbolton. Here at The Stockton Cross we are passionate about great tasting seasonal 'pub grub' and we aim to source our produce as locally as we can. We are open 11am-11pm every day and serve food from 12 - 8 Tuesday to Saturday and Sunday roasts 12 - 4. We serve local cask ales & local cider and our wines are sourced from Tanners. We also use these Herefordshire made ales and ciders in many of our dishes. We have a large beer garden at the face of the pub and an ample carpark at the rear.

We arrived here, very tired, hungry and stressed at 8.40 pm just before they finished serving food. The welcome was lovely, all the staff treated us like friends and we ordered a sharing platter with extras and sat in the garden. Food arrived promptly, again by a cheery man. Made to feel like one of the locals which I wish we were.

After a cold day on the bank, what could be better than lounging by the fire, in a pub with a proper country feel eating good food with staff that treat you like their own family.
Nothing is too much trouble and the food is excellent, but I must apologise for leaving some as they certainty don’t want you going hungry!
The only issue is I think I put on half a stone in a couple of days here...

Just read some of the other reviews and I agree with at least one other person. The service was good, the staff very friendly and the restaurant was clean but the food was disappointing. To be fair the starters were good enough but the main course didn't live up to the extensive and mouthwatering menu.
So yes we will be back to try again. Lot's of people seem to like it and maybe we will too.

A lovely quirky and homely little deli/bistro with a very welcoming interior. The food was good, but I was left feeling rather frustrated - as it could have been great! We both ordered the goats cheese "Quiche". No way was it a quiche, the filling was not nearly thick enough. Definitely a "tart" as it was very shallow. Such a shame as the "filling" was delicious - just miserly in quantity. Also the "quiche" was warmed in the microwave for rather too long - rendering the pastry rather tough. We called in towards the end of lunchtime so may explain why our salad was rather limp and tired. So do you see my frustration ? It could have been great with just a tad more attention to detail.
