India Cafe

Background: while visiting a relative in Fairfield, Iowa, a friend recommended we try the India Cafe. We're glad we did.Verdict: Having a local with inside knowledge of the menu was very helpful in picking up dishes from the large, multi page menu. We settled on several vegetarian dishes including: the veggie platter (samosa, other veggies in chick pea flour), the matar paneer (peas and paneer in a cream sauce), the chana saag (chick pea spinach in a sauce), and the tandoori Roti, a flat bread that is lighter than naan. Every dish was different and enjoyed by all. We'd definitely come back when we want to eat Indian food again!

Green Gourmet

The ONLY place in Fairfield where you don't have to be concerned about what you're eating. I look for organic, non-GMO food, and I feel 100% comfortable eating at Green Gourmet. First, the service: cafeteria style. The focus at Green Gourmet is on food, not trendy foofoo ambiance. Second, the food: undisputably, the highest quality, most flavorful eats in town. At Green Gourmet, you can take for granted that the food is fresh, organic, and well-prepared. On the rare occasion an ingredient is not organic, you can rest assured it's non-GMO. You'll regularly find rice and dhal, quinoa, butternut squash, string beans (with and without panir), stir-fried noodles (chow mein), stir-fried vegetables, and more. There's always a free-range chicken dish, and often fish. On certain days there's peas, beans, okra, mac and cheese, a hearty soup, roti, samosas or other equally delicious special dishes. Send your taste buds over the top with flavorful condiments such as pickled mango, tamarind chutney, or chili sauce. Wash it all down with freshly pressed vegetable juice, lassi, world-class chai, or complimentary hot tea and alkaline (Kangen) water. There's even a selection of desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth. Green Gourmet opens Monday through Friday in the morning (at 8:30) for fresh Norwalk-prepared juices, and Monday through Saturday (at 11:30) for lunch. The food is so good, you've got to get there by 1:00 before the dishes start to run low or completely out! Come often enough, and you'll see the same patrons everyday... that's how good the food is! Delicious, fresh, organic, always non-GMO, Kangen water, and reasonable prices. There's even wifi. It really is the best place in town for a tasty, satisfying, question-free meal. I'd come for breakfast and dinner if they offered it.
