Ila

Reviewed By Chris R - New York City, New York

We've been here many times and always enjoy Ila. The service is good, they have a nice selection of beer and wine, and enough variety on the menu for everyone to find something they like. I'm a big fan of the walleye, my wife likes the santa fe salad, and my mom likes the eggplant. Their brunch is really good too and they open early.

Cafe Paradiso

Reviewed By GlobalVillage - Burlington, Vermont

Background: While visiting our daughter in Iowa, she recommended we stop Cafe Paradiso for breakfast.

Verdict: We're glad we ate/drank here! Mixing Old World Charm with Mid West Hospitality, everything we ate or drank was good to the last drop/crumb! Plus the ambiance was lovely; the tables were full of couples, families or friends enjoying each other. Eric, the Barista, was amiable and knowledgeable. We expect to return for more before we leave. Bravo!

Revelations Cafe

This is a small town gathering spot. It is a big book store, gift shop, and coffee shop combined. It is 1/2 block off the town square on North Main. The pie and cheesecake and bars are delicious.

2nd Street Coffee House

Reviewed By Clear-Direction - Melbourne, Australia

I've been to "Bonnie's" several times during my visit this month. Always friendly. Buffet by weight is good for lunch. Mine average $7-$11.

In the evenings I've enjoyed marinated tofu and vegetables and vegetable soup with noodles, about $10. You'll be spoiled for choice if you want a dessert, especially thick slices of apple pie.

Being open Sunday evenings makes it possible to go out for a home-cooked meal any night.

Seating is at tables or booths, decor very simple, casual atmosphere.

Crowded and noisy, it's basically a bar, but the grilled cheese sandwiches are fantastic. Also the wait staff are really nice.

Many Mediterranean options for sandwiches, plates, and pizza (ok not Turkish but looked good). The falafel pita was good; perfectly cooked with fresh veggies; a bit less seasoned than I would prefer. Service and atmosphere were pleasant and service was lightening fast. Watch the hours as many Fairfield restaurants close for the mid-afternoon.

Yes- portions are large and the food is yummy. A simple menu either eat in or take away. It's a unique taste along with the problem of I'll eat the entire portion-that's a good problem. A funky location with a small funky diner from days gone by brought back to life as a Trip to Jamaica with Jerked Chicken, Beef and Tofu. A thumbs up on good food and funky. Yes it's fun.

Green Gourmet

Reviewed By David B - Fairfield, Iowa

The ONLY place in Fairfield where you don't have to be concerned about what you're eating. I look for organic, non-GMO food, and I feel 100% comfortable eating at Green Gourmet.
First, the service: cafeteria style. The focus at Green Gourmet is on food, not trendy foofoo ambiance.
Second, the food: undisputably, the highest quality, most flavorful eats in town. At Green Gourmet, you can take for granted that the food is fresh, organic, and well-prepared. On the rare occasion an ingredient is not organic, you can rest assured it's non-GMO. You'll regularly find rice and dhal, quinoa, butternut squash, string beans (with and without panir), stir-fried noodles (chow mein), stir-fried vegetables, and more. There's always a free-range chicken dish, and often fish. On certain days there's peas, beans, okra, mac and cheese, a hearty soup, roti, samosas or other equally delicious special dishes. Send your taste buds over the top with flavorful condiments such as pickled mango, tamarind chutney, or chili sauce. Wash it all down with freshly pressed vegetable juice, lassi, world-class chai, or complimentary hot tea and alkaline (Kangen) water. There's even a selection of desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Green Gourmet opens Monday through Friday in the morning (at 8:30) for fresh Norwalk-prepared juices, and Monday through Saturday (at 11:30) for lunch. The food is so good, you've got to get there by 1:00 before the dishes start to run low or completely out! Come often enough, and you'll see the same patrons everyday... that's how good the food is! Delicious, fresh, organic, always non-GMO, Kangen water, and reasonable prices. There's even wifi. It really is the best place in town for a tasty, satisfying, question-free meal. I'd come for breakfast and dinner if they offered it.
