Bije's Grill and Bar is a sports bar that specializes in pizza. In fact, owner Carl Quilici has been involved in the family business going back to Armando's and the Original Gino's East in downtown Chicago and he swears that his restaurant's pizza is based on a secret recipe that originated in Lucca, Italy. Who am I to argue? Located at 7455 West Irving Park Road in Norridge, Quilici opened Bije's in 1996. Friends who know my affection and preference for thin crust cheese and sausage pizza recommended Bije's. Some Tripadvisor reviews claimed it was the "absolute best thin crust pizza" in Chicago. Well, it is as good as advertised, not too much cheese, not too much tomato sauce, not too much crust, plenty of sausage, plenty of flavor, not too filling. But Bije's offers more than pizza. The menu features a plethora of delicious Italian fare, including bruschetta (grilled Italian bread brushed with olive oil and garlic and topped with fresh tomato, onion and basil), garlic bread, pizza bread, arancini, calamari, Italian beef, Italian sausage, Italian meatball, meat and cheese and spinach ravioli, pasta, linguine and several speciality pizzas, including Buffalo wing, BBQ, Margherita and Bije's Special (sausage, onions, mushrooms, green peppers). You're in a mood for something else? How about fried jumbo shrimp or chicken parmigiana or tilapia or grilled chicken breast or a Bije's Burger, 1/2-pound of ground chuck with all the trimmings?

While we came ostensibly for the gluten free options, the overall food experience was wonderful. My GF loved the separate menu and all the choices. She asked if they could make something NOT on the menu, Shrimp Parmesanâ¦.turns out they could and she loved it...pasta was served on the side. On the non-GF front, I couldnât decide between the eggplant parmesan and Rigotoni Boscaiola, so I order half portions of each! I loved them both. The GF clams were more breading than clams, but it was nice to have the GF option. We hope to be back here soon. GF bread and deserts also available.

This would be great pizza if it were the 1970s, and your other options were Little Caesarâs and Dominos. However, in the 21st Cenrtury, there are so many better options, even among national chains. Discovered: Another good restaurant in Norridge, Illinois. And we don't even live there. We do have some friends who live in the Chicago suburb, however, and they have made us aware of places like Villa Napoli Pizzeria. For starters, CEO and founder Ilir Sela has put together one of the most comprehensive menus I have encountered. He prides himself on thin crust pizza. And longtime diners claim Villa Napoli has "the fastest delivery in the world." I can't vouch for that because we live beyond their delivery limit. And we usually have our pizza delivered. But Villa Napoli has so many options, everything you would expect of a Italian restaurant and more, including T-Bone steaks and BBQ ribs and broiled halibut. Located at 8546 West Lawrence Avenue, it is open from 11 to midnight Monday through Thursday, 11 to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to midnight on Sunday. Sela's family opened Villa Napoli in 1976 and has been satisfying customers for three generations, confirming their slogan: "You can have your pie and eat it, too." On our initial visit, with friends, we wanted to get a feel for the environment--and the kitchen--so we tried to sample as many dishes as we could. We started with garlic bread, bruschetta, minestrone and grilled chicken Caesar salad. For entrees, we chose veal parmigiana, lasagna, baked mostaccioli and a full slab of BBQ ribs. For dessert, we ordered cannoli, tiramisu and spumoni all around. Villa Napoli is a real family atmosphere with friendly and exceptional service. And the pizza? The extra large, 18-inch thin crust variety comes with every topping imaginable, including shrimp, anchovy, pepperoni, jalapenos, artichoke, vegetable, pineapple, prosciutto, pepperoni, black and green olives, broccoli and Italian beef. But we still prefer cheese and sausage. And they offer pan or stuffed pizza, too. Just another reason, if any more were necessary, why Chicago is the best pizza town in the country.

After waiting 19 minutes and flagging down 3 people...finally the 4th stopped and saved us from leaving and never coming back. Geo wasn't supposed to be our waiter but took our drink order and our food order when we told him we were sitting there for 19 minutes. Rebbecca also stopped by and made sure we had our drinks asap and our food order was out fast. I gave Kings an average (instead of a poor) because we really did enjoy the burgers. I am still really disappointed on the lack of the first 3 people caring that NO ONE was taking care of us. It was not packed, a little busy, yes, but there was still open tables. I know the hotel dining experience has been elevated. They used to be a necessary evil and only because it is easier then going out. Not anymore. And Chicago Fire Pizza is a case in point. Service from start to finish was excellent. The food was delicious. The drinks on the mark. I started with the Woodford Manhattan. Well prepared by the bar. I then had their house white with the risotto bites. Hardly bites. Three good size risotto balls with a flavorful marinara sauce. I had one. Wanted to save room for pizza and salad. I moved to the house red for my spinach salad and 8-inch Mediterranean pizza. I had leftovers for each. The spinach salad was flavorful, well-balanced and dressed. The pizza had a perfect char, nice crust and tasty toppings. The only slight negative is the lighting. What is up with the darker âambiance?â I passed on dessert.I will return and sample more options. I encourage you to do so.

Purchased family salad, small Special...deep dish and small half cheese half pepperoni and sausage.Environment very nice, very busy! Waitress was okay, but not terribly attentive... but pleasant.For me, the flavors were bland and not aggregate, seemed each ingredient was unrelated to the sum of the finished product. Like eating layers of separate ingredients. Crust was biggest disappointment... very bland, texture hard, not soft or chewy, flavorless. Presentation was wonderful, just didn't live up to expectations. Probably would never return... however, I must be alone in my feelings as the restaurant was full with people waiting to get in.

The pizza at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! The ingredients are fresh and full of flavor. My person favorite is the Buffalina pizza and my boyfriend loves the Tres Carne. Also hands down the best cannoli I have ever had in my life (and I've been to Italy). The fries are delicious as well. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you're debating on trying this place don't wait any longer! Also the pizza reheats really well so you can always take leftovers home and enjoy the pizza again!
