Lived our evening here; the service was warm and welcoming. Good advice was given with menu selections, and the food was so good!! In particular the steak was excellent, but also excellent oysters and mussels... they were just so accommodating and made our first night on holiday perfect

After visiting the chateau we were looking for some French food and the name sounded good. The waiter wasnât very friendly as in most service industry in France but we kept low profile fearing he can spit in our food but the food was delicious like in many places in France. And good size portions and good prices. Just put up with sulky please donât make me work hard attitude everywhere in France youâll get good food. Weâll go again if ever back to Fontainebleau. Anyway service wouldnât be any better at the next door café.

La Taverne is a lively, bright restaurant on the central Rue Grand in Fontainebleau. The pizzas are copious and delicious; the service is brisk and attentive. Itâs not a place for a romantic evening - bright lighting and TV screens in every corner â but itâs popular with the young Bellefontaines and tourists. My Pizza Bistrot (â¬10) was tasty and a 50cl pichet of average Bordeaux Red (â¬9) was passable âthe café grand crème (â¬3) was good.I would recommend La Taverne for families or a group meal with friends â nothing spectacular â but good value for money and friendly service.
