Good hotel

We stayed for one night. The hotel was in a lovely location and very easy to park. Close to the harbor and restaurants. We just had an issue with the temperature of the room when we arrived. It was a particularly hot day when we arrived and the room was very hot and stuffy and we had to keep the small window open for most of the night to cool it down, which wouldn't have been an issue but we were on the first floor near the hotel entrance and there were a lot of noise coming from bar area/entrance area. It would've been helpful to have the curtains closed prior to our arrival to keep it cool.

We are under new management and starting 2022 season with a bang! All rooms have undergone a major renovation, all bathrooms are new and we have added a great bar and terrace: The JaJa DingDong bar, named after the song from the Eurovision movie. The movie was shot in our direct vicinity and we have build the first and only Eurovision exhibition in our hotel. A must for fans! Our bar features original Italian delicacies and true Neapolitan stone baked Pizza. We are only a few minutes away from everything in Húsavík, still our setting overlooking the bay and harbor is unique. Whale watching tours can be booked through us with a nice discount, and also please ask us about horse riding, day tours or anything else you need to know in order to have a perfect stay! The entire team is ready for a new season with great improvements. We can´t wait to welcome you to our place!

Husavik was booked out so we had to look further, there are a lot of places like this. The detached houses/cottages/duplesex are nice becaus eyou can park right outside of them. They are fairly spacious - but not incredibly comfortable You can have dinner on site, its not amazing, but its pretty good, and very convenient. You can also pack a lunch to take with you - this is extremely convenient!

Great rooms, bad breakfast

Reviewed By Frederic3006

Centrally located guesthouse. Very nice rooms with comfortable beds. Shared bathrooms. On the first floor there are 2 shower rooms with toilet. And a third toilet separately. Perfect. Maybe because of covid but our breakfast was extremely basic. We got 2 boxes: one with a (burned) small bread roll and 1 mini croissant and mini chocolate bun. The other one: one slice of cheese, a tomato, cucumber and sliced egg. Some jam. And that was it. This was our worst breakfast in Iceland. The tables are fitted with very ugly plastic.

Vestmannsvatn Guesthouse

Small family run guesthouse by the scenic Vestmannsvatn lake. The two houses where built in the 60's by the Icelandic church to be used as summer camp for children. After being abandoned for a few years the family took it under its wings and decided use the houses as a bed and breakfast for travelers. Renovating the houses as they go along. They offer 13 twin bedrooms and 2 single bedrooms with shared bathrooms and shower facilities. All guests have access to a hot tub located on the terrace with a view over the lake. Where you can watch the trout jump in the lake during the summer while listening to the birds sing, and in the winter look at the northern lights dance above your head. There are beautiful hiking paths around the area where it is easy to find a spot where there is total silence and you can see nothing but beautiful nature. They serve both breakfast and dinner with a beautiful selection of home made delicacies . Specially known for the trout straight from the lake.

Overpriced

Reviewed By briguy_bc

It’s your typical Iceland guesthouse; a clean and quiet facility. This place is overpriced considering the longer distance from the highway, a very basic kitchen with no hot plate and zero food prep space. If you enjoy being well off the highway and cows as your neighbors then this place is for you.

Camp Boutique Original North

Original North - is a small family business located on an estate named Vað in Þingeyjarsveit which has belonged to our family for generations. This area has a unique spirit where it is easy to relax in the nature. We offer two types of accommodation. Luxury glamping tents or rent our country house. Glamping is one of the most uniq way to experience the Icelandic nature in the best way, sitting outsite and enjoy the quietness, listening to the birds and the river, while watching the sun sets. The tents are very well equipped, for example a carpet on the floor, furnitures, heating system and a heating blankets in beds. It´s only few meters to toilets and showers. High speed Wi-Fi.

An experience I will remember forever. Our Family tent was amazing with heat, plenty of outlets, bed warmers, wonderful bedding, strong WiFi, clean facilities, and the views and quiet country side were amazing. Our hosts were attentive to small details. We could not stay after check in due to an appt in Husavik and when we returned our heaters were on and we were led to our tent by our host on his electric bike with head lamp. Breakfast was wonderful with homemade humus and jams along with other local and meat options. We stayed two nights and enjoyed every minute and this was my kind of camping (glamping).

Arbot Hostel

Iceland is all about fascinating geography and Árbót Hostel is a great base to start exploring from. The hostel is surrounded by diverse bird life and beautiful nature, and is located on a farm where horses and cattle are bred giving guests a unique opportunity to experience real Icelandic farm life. The facilities at the hostel are basic but you will not be spending your time indoors. Some of the attractions to visit include the beautiful Lake Myvatn area which harbours volcanic activity - the region is covered in lava and interesting geological phenomena like canyons, pseudo craters, hot mud and steam springs. Bath in nature’s own hot tubs in Jarðböðin with temperatures reaching 38-40 degrees. A 10 minute drive away and you will find the nearest town, Husavik, where you can book a great chance to whale watch on fantastic tour boats.
