We haven't stayed here but have eaten at the restaurant on a number of occasions. The hotel is one of the residences of the Marquis de Sade and the owner, Madame Lhermie has restored it from it's previously sorry state into a delightful hotel, retaining many of the original features and imprinting it with humorous and sometimes quirky character - rooms are decorated with a tonque-in-cheek sense of history but also with a calm modern decor. The intimate gardens are beautiful and the pool is a pleasant place to relax in the summer.The hotel restaurant, L'ingenue, is situated in the elegant chateau dining room - and outside on the shaded terrace in the summer. Franck Pijol is a talented chef and his food is interesting, experimental and tasty and far superior to anything in the vicinity. Staff and owners have always been very friendly and welcoming to us and our American friends (I say this because another post has suggested otherwise).

We had a dinner recently with a friend ->restaurant-critic and we all enjoyed the dinner, the presentation and the wine list. Even though Pascal is very shy with spices which makes the taste a bit weak, but also original to its produce. From our arrival to our departure we received nothing but excellent service and great food. I believe the restaurant has recently changed hands and we can only wish the new owners well.The young lady who waited on us was delightful and so helpful.We sat on the terrace at the back and from our table could watch the chef at work. He appeared to be working alone so it is extra amazing to note the quality of food he was producing.A small menu, but each bite was appreciated.At 29 euros for three courses and approx. 4 euros for a glass of wine we thought this great value.Just the kind of restaurant we love and were so lucky to find by chance in this small village a few miles from our holiday rental.Some parking available close by.

I do not like make negative review but this place, unfortunately, deserve one.we selected this place because it is part of Maitre Restaurateur association where is is made in-house.Sunday lunch. outside tables are full or booked. we take a table inside.2 staff only on the floor trying their best in a professional way to serve customers.it took 1 h to get our order landing on the table.overall the food is too pretentious. a complex mix of flavors that are not delicious.only the dessert was delicious.too many customers for not enough staff.dishes too complex and not that savory.so i do not recommend this place at all.

We had dinner in Mid Oct and were looking forward to it after seeing many good reviews. Unfortunately the worse reviews were the more accurate ones. My husband and I had le menu which was fish. It was okay, but the bad part was that it was almost room temperature-barely warm. We wondered if it had been sitting out a while or was prepared for someone else who changed their order. It wasn't inexpensive either, so we were very disappointed. Service was good, but other than cold fish, I don't remember what else we had-not a memorable evening.

Wow we were very pleasantly surprised how good the food was, we visited the restaurant as we were staying on the campsite and were not expecting such great food.We ate at the outside tables as it was hot but inside looked cozy and inviting.The waitress's were helpful and friendly and spoke excellent English.All 3 courses tasted as good as they looked and I would highly recommend a visit, the food was delicious and far better than some of the other restaurants we tried in the area.

At 03/05/2017 we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere in this small and cosy restaurant. The menu de jour was really excellent and absolutely worth its price. The bill was ⬠51.- for the two of us. Talking to the charming young woman I missed to look at the sum booked on my credit card. It was ⬠71.-. Several days later being already at home I recognized this error and send two emails to the restaurant adding scans of the two bills. Up to now I got not a single line from them. Thats really disappoinig!Je me souviens de vous, il me semblait avoir fait une erreur, mais je n'étais pas sûre.En effet, j'ai inversé avec la table à côté, ils ont payé votre note et vous la leur. Mais ils ne m'ont rien dit. Donc mes comptes étant juste, mon erreur ne s'est pas confirmée.Je vous fais toutes mes excuses même si cela ne répare rien, de plus je n'ai pas reçu vos mail, autrement j'y aurais répondu.Encore une foie je vous présente mes excuses.

Nice terrace. Very friendly staff. Easy parking. There was a good childen menu for little money. Also place for children to move around. We took the 25 euro menu with both entrees of good quality and originality. The main dishes of the menu were both of high quality. If you don't want to take a risk, L'Oulo is a good choice.

Had a fantastic lunch here last week - the room is airy and comfortable, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Amuse bouche of pea and mint pana cotta, starter of smoked duck and goat's cheese filo pastry parcel, main course was duck leg (very hearty portion but beautifully cooked, presented and garnished) with local vegetables, then a plate of local cheeses. As I was driving I had artisan lemonade which was equally delicious - the wine list looked tempting (both from the vineyard and also the restaurant's own blend). I had to be physically restrained from buying the blue glass water bottles etched with the restaurant's logo! Can't wait for the summer when we can go back...

This was recommended by friends in the area. The place is beautiful. We dined outside. The service was excellent and the salad of mushrooms was exceptional! The presentations are lovely, especially the desserts. There was an off-putting smell the day we were there - fertilizer or a sewage issue perhaps? But everything else was wonderful!
