Restaurant staff were friendly and inviting and food was great. This was one of the only places around that you could just have a drink and soak up the great atmosphere. Food is reasonably priced and was always busy when we were in or just passed by. Well worth a visit if you are staying over that side of town.

We went here off the back of the reviews. It was a Wednesday evening, there were two three other tables in so relatively quiet. The staff didn't speak much English, but were still very helpful and willing to work with you to figure out what you want (we used Google Translate on our phones at one point).Unfortunately the meal wasn't great. I had steak frites, I wanted medium but it was a little over done, and the chips were soggy - really disappointing. I regret not just sticking the set menu - this was the most expensive meal of our time in Carcassonne, and by far the most disappointing. Mon dieu quel beau jeu dâacteur vous avez eut ce soir là ..!!!! Bravo !!! Je ne lâai pas vue venir cet avis là ..!!! Pourtant câest pas faute dâetre passée à votre table pour savoir si tout se passait bien ...!!! Votre réponse avait été : » oui merci « en plus autant de critiques sur nos plats mais vos assiettes sont toutes revenues VIDES .... pour quelquâun qui nâa pas du tout aimé je reste perplexe ..... Ce monsieur est venu accompagné de sa dame un mercredi soir à eux deux ils ont pris : 2 apéritifs , 1/2L de vin , 2 plats ( 1 entrecôte de bÅuf française avec frites maison et légumes, 1 magret de canard du sud ouest avec frites maison et légumes ( de vrais légumes pas du surgelé) et 1 dessert ( gâteau au chocolat maison ) le tout à 60,50⬠!! Il a trouvé son repas cher ... comparé aux autres restaurant où il est allé.. je me suis posée la question ou à t il pu aller manger pour moins cher et équivalent aux plats de chez nous .. donc je suis allé voir sur son profil TripAdvisor et ce monsieur est allé dans une brasserie puis une crêperie ( soit disant passant très bon établissements ) mais monsieur vous ne pouvez absolument pas comparer nos trois établissements câest pas possible ..!!! Ce nâest pas les mêmes matières premières, le meme travaille, les meme produits , les meme prix dâachat.... .. parce que dans tous les autres RESTAURANT de Carcassonne vous en auriez eut pour la même somme dâargent voir plus cher ....!!! Mais encore faut-il savoir faire la différence entre les établissements...... Vous trouvez votre note un peu salé... vous savez monsieur a lâextérieur du restaurant il y a un panneau avec la carte affichée il faut la regarder avant de rentrer au lieu de rentrer directement ça évite bien des surprises par fois ... Ce monsieur nâa pas mangé « un steak « mais une ENTRECÃTE DE BÅUF FRANÃAISE !!! Oui jâécris En gros parce que à un moment donné il faudrait savoir là aussi faire la différence !!!!! La cuisson vous lâaviez demandé « médium « en France cela correspond à du « à point « vous avez eut votre entrecôte de bÅuf à point ... si vous lâavez trouvé trop cuite câest une erreur de votre part monsieur ... la prochaine fois demandez la « saignante « Les frites maison ne vous ont pas plus non plus... je ne peux rien faire pour vous câest maison câest de la vraie pomme de terre vous préférez peut être les frites surgelées ou les frites fraîches ( la aussi il faudrait savoir faire la différence ... frites fraîche ne veux pas dire frites maison mais frites achetées non congelées.... ) Pendant tout le temps que ce monsieur a passé dans mon établissement il a toujours été très souriant, très gentil très bla-bla-bla-bla...... je passe souvent aux tables pour savoir si tout ce passe bien , si la cuisson des viandes va bien , si vous manquez de rien ce monsieur a aucun moment mâa fait part de ses remarques.... je dois en conclure quoi ..??? Que vous êtes un remarquable hypocrite ???? Oui câest ça ... parce que pour dire sur le moment que tout ce passe bien bla-bla-bla et après faire de telles critiques il faut être sacrément hypocrite et malhonnête !!! Voilà ce que moi je retiendrai de vous monsieur !!!!! Les critiques je sais les accepter mais seulement quand elles sont constructive et dites sur le moment quand jâai à faire à ce genre dâindividus ça a tendance a vraiment mâenerver ..... ce monsieur mâaurait dit tout ça en face et après écrit cet avis là réponse aurais été toute différente moins agressive mais là désolée je ne peux pas .... la prochaine fois faites preuve dâhonnêteté de courage et portez vos ( â¼ï¸) et dites les choses en face et sur le moment ..!!! TripAdvisor nâest pas un defouloir pour frustrés câest trop facile ....

We almost missed this delightful place. It looks like a wine shop till you spot the menu on the blackboard.What a lovely meal! Himself..... indulged in their famous oysters while I stuck to a mackerel salad and we shared a portion of frites....huge portion!Lovely food, wine. Friendly waitress .What more could we want....oh.....and it wasnât expensive. Great value . Wonderful evening .

Having been to this bar/café 7 years ago, we thought weâd try it for lunch as we just wanted something light. The sandwiches were good but the waiter was offhand and had to be signalled to take our order after we waited quite a while, even though he had passed by several times. But when we came to pay, he was distinctly hostile when we proffered a â¬50 note, which unfortunately the bank cash machine had given us. He took no notice of the fact we had added the correct amount of change in order to help him and we would have only needed to give us a â¬5 and a â¬10. We gave the â¬50 note at anotherestablishment later and they accepted it without hesitation and a smile.

We have visited before and always enjoy the atmosphere. The decor is so relaxing and the staff are very friendly. The homemade crisps are very special! We had a lovely Tapas tonight which allowed for enough vegetarian choices. Lovely background music which just provides a super relaxing environment. Also one of the few places in Carcassonne to get properly mixed cocktails! Highly recommended!
