We were invited to lunch by an old college friend who had been judge in Laredo and now lives in Santander. In previous visits to Spain we visited him and his wife in Santander and eaten at the Nautico there. No comparison. The Laredo version is a couple of notches upscale in qualify of food and service. This time enjoying the view of the estuary of Santona Bay. We chose the fabes (buttery large beans from Asturias) with clams and the generous portions of turbot grilled to perfection. That washed down with a good Albarino was a perfect combination. Less satisfying was the cheese- based "cuajada" dessert. It is unclear whether the restaurant is open to non-members, but if it is, make the effort to visit it where on top of everything there is plenty of parking and its extensive grounds invite to remain there to watch stunning sunsets. The restaurant has the reputation of being the best in Laredo.

I will start by saying that food was excellent at La Marina. In fact, that's why I decided to eat there - I was passing by and the look of the food that they served was amazing. However, I can't say the same about the service. In my opinion, one of the most important rules about service is not being pushy. They should learn that La Marina. Having made my mind about what I wanted to eat (Rabas), the waitress tried to convinced me not once, not two times, but three times to have something else, which, not surprisingly, was twice as expensive. So pushy was the waitress that for a moment I considered about leaving. The worst part was that I hadn't asked for her advice - she simply thought that she knew better. When I asked for tap water, again, she insisted in bringing me bottled water, arguing that quality of water in Laredo was not good (which is not true, it's not the best water in the world but it's fine). Again, she was bossy and pushy. The best thing I can say about the service is that was irritating. A pity, because the food was great.Hello , thank you for your visit to our restaurant,We spoke to the waitress who took them and has told us that only offered and indicated different rabas that have rabas , orchard and cuttlebone ... with their corresponding and different prices displayed on the chart, (misunderstood)the professionalism of the waitress and health orders ... discourage offer tap water and serve any customer , thank you for everything and expect them .Hola y muy buenas , gracias por la visita a nuestro restaurante,Hemos hablado con la camarera que les atendió y nos ha comentado (posible mal entendido) que solo les ofreció e indico las diferentes rabas que disponemos rabas, de la huerta y de jibión … con sus correspondiente y diferentes precios que se muestran en la carta, la profesionalidad de la camarera y las ordenes de sanidad ... desaconsejan ofrecer y servir agua del grifo a cualquier cliente, gracias por todo y les esperamos.

A typical beachfront restaurant that doesn't have to be good to survive; they don't care if you come back or not. Which we didn't realize until we ordered from the menu this description (and the most expensive item on the list): lobster and rice. That's it, that's all it said: lobster and rice. Well that sounded great. A dish for two to share. What we got, though, was a pot of broth with mussels, clams, rice and a few pieces of said lobster. My husband is deadly allergic to mussels and clams. We called the waiter over and tried to explain. Up until then he had given absolutely no clue that he understood English. "Why didn't you tell me before?," he complained in a voice that implied that the whole dreadful situation was completely our fault. I ate the dish--which I didn't think was very good, and my husband ordered a steak, the only thing on the menu identifiable as 'safe'. Which was fine enough but overall this was more food than we wanted, and we didn't choose a seaside restaurant just to eat steak. We were charged for everything. Couldn't have been less impressed.Es otro pescador, no el nuestro. Nosotros no tenemos elPlato del que habla. Es más, sólo tenemos mejillones en la barra y hablamos perfectamente inglés.

We spent a leisurely afternoon at this wonderful place drinking the house vino tinto and having a series of delightful dishes: patatas bravas; croquetas; and the truly fabulous salmon salad. The woman who waited on us was also a gem - the service was perfect. Next time we are in Laredo, we’ll go try more of their delicious food!

Chiarissimo Pasta y Pizza

Italian taste at Laredo. If you are a pasta lover, Chiarissimo is your favorite place to eat in Laredo (Cantabria).

Reviewed By Silke W

This is my first rating on TripAdvisor but the food was so good that I have to write it down and tell the world (and Laredo visitors)Yesterday we went for dinner in Laredo. We found this little restaurant which serves great Italian food. The welcoming was warm and nice, the owners even speak some English. There was an English menu. We started with garlic flatbread which was very delicious. We then had two types of homemade pasta. The kitchen is a little bit open so I could see how it was made and the fresh ingredients were added to our meal. The saddest thing is that we were to full to try a dessert and that we didn't try the pizza, which presumably is also very tasty. Thanks a lot, Silke. We are glad that you enjoyed our pasta, another day you can try the pizzas. We will wait for you !
