This is (for us) our second favorite addictive food which we first encountered in Europe (Germany, Spain, and Italy mostly). We have been looking for good Shawarma or Turkish Doner Kebaps ever since. When we saw that Jaffa Cafe advertised Shawarma, we were in!The Arabic Shwarma (Shawarma) is not shaved off the spit (like a Doner Kebap); it is characterized by chunks of flavored meat. The sauce is also different in a Shawarma (tzatziki sauce).Jaffa's Mediterranean menu is varied and the dishes we saw being served were works of art. We thoroughly enjoyed our Shwarmas but (at the end of the proverbial day), they weren't as good as the ones in Europe and we need to keep looking for Doner Kebaps.

We picked La Laconda because it was a block from our hotel and we were glad that we did. We had a delicious meal and received excellent service from our server, Luis.I had a buratta cheese and tomato salad, which was very similar to a caprese salad. It was so delicious that I could have had a second salad and that would have enough. For the main course, I had Duck a l'Orange with potatoes and green beans. My husband had a veal dish. We had also had wine.This is not a mass-market place with a multi-page menu. I recommend it to anyone who wants quality food in an intimate atmosphere.

We love Cafe Roma and have given it five stars on prior reviews. We love the warm and comfortable ambiance as soon as we walk in. We enjoy the location, away from downtown. The staff are always exceptionally friendly (weâre talking about you, Marcus!). The wine selections are very good and the menu choices are interesting and dependable. Weâre always intrigued by their daily specials and have had an excellent experience with them. On this visit we ordered both of the specials, an Eggplant Parmesan and Halibut. The halibut was very good, although a bit understated in its seasoning and flavor. The eggplant dish was only average, both in presentation and preparation. Itâs the first dish Iâve had here that I would not order again. Before the entrees we shared a Cafe Roma Salad, which we think is one of the best in town. Itâs big enough to share.Service on this visit was as personable as always but somewhat slow and inattentive, which we felt was mostly a kitchen issue. The restaurant wasnât very crowded so there wasnât an obvious reason for the delays. Because we had an engagement later in in the evening, the delay kept us from ordering dessert, which weâve often thoroughly enjoyed here.So, a bit off step on this visit, but nothing that will keep us from returning again very soon.

There are not words to describe how truly incredible the food is. Sooooo flavorful, and immense servings! We struggled to finish, because there was so much, but it was so delicious we didnât want to stop!! First, the tea. Good god, get the Moroccan tea if you go. I have neverâNEVERâ had tea so good. Sweet, spicy...heavenly. Mmmmm. There are numerous options on the menu, so no matter what you WILL find something. There are vegetarian dishes, and they are willing to work around food sensitivities or allergies. For example, I told the woman when we left that I LOVE baklava, but as it is usually made with walnuts I canât eat it anymore. She said that she has the same problem, so she makes hers with almonds! Then we tasted itâMmmmmm! We will absolutely go back next time weâre in SLO.

They went out of their way to accommodate 4 without reservations on a busy Saturday night. This new (in March) trendy, mostly fish, Spanish type restaurant also has great tapas. Food was great. Service team was well trained and efficient. A welcome addition to mid-range fine dining in SLOBill & Sandee,So glad we hit the marks!
