Brittany Campgrounds | Places to Stay in Brittany

April 25, 2023 Brandee Mangan

Brittany's dramatic 750-mile coastline traces a rugged hem against the chilly Atlantic. Attractions such as St-Malo's 1689 Fort National, the prehistoric ruins and striking beauty of Gavrinish Island and Brest's Oceanopolis aquarium cling to the rocky shoreline of France's most northwestern province. Nantes, Rennes and Brest are the largest cities. Rennes is just two hours from Paris by TGV. Breton and Gallo, the ancient languages of this Celtic province, are still spoken in pockets throughout the area.

Great location and cabins

Reviewed By EarthNatureGirl

Great location and good cabins. Friendly staff and English speaking staff is hit or miss. Fantastic location for visiting the photo festival and going into town (5 minute walk). Be sure to rent your sheets/towels ahead of time if needed. And you have to clean your own place (e.g. shower, sinks, floors, etc.). Overall, great stay!

One night stargazing in a tree bubble

Reviewed By AmeliaB0309

I spent one night in a transparent bubble placed in the trees. The experience was magical. The bubble was very convenient; we had the option of removing the top completely, leaving only the transparents plastic layer, or keeping both the opaque layer and the transparent layer. The ventilation system was also very nice (there is a mosquito screen). I would recommend, it was a great experience!

We booked directly by email. We had a lovely stay. It is not too big nor too small. Strengths: - Very clean including toilets, showers, etc. - Pet friendly - Recycling (rubbish) - Price for three nights. - Can find soap and toilet paper (+ hand towels) in the toilets, tea towel and washing liquid in the sink area. - Superb wifi - The showers were always hot whenever during the day. - Heating system in the yurt - Two electric plates for cooking + a microwave + a fridge - Peace and quiet - Can buy baskets of food for breakfast and picnic (basic and luxurious). - Comfy beds but bring your own sheets / quilt / pillow cases / bath towels, toiletries, etc. - Basic cutlery and dishes (incl. plates) - BBQ available - Play area for children (small children) - Friendly staff, knowledgeable and helpful. What could be better: - No confirmation for payment when booked directly. - No information about the venue and what is required to bring when booked directly. - Communication was scarce and had to be chased by texts, calls (from the UK) and emails. - People do not follow the rule about not using their cars after 10.30pm so can be disruptive. [However, the member of staff was reactive and left a note informing the time deadline to use cars in the village on the office shutter - could have been translated in English to help other holidaymakers.] - The village could have left some sort of visitors booklet in each yurt giving basic info e.g. nearest supermarket (Ploubalay), nearest beach, nearest doctor and hospital, their service for breakfast and picnic, mentioning also check-out and no cars rule in the evening, etc... - No bar nor even in the village. Driving distance for the nearest one. - Could have salt and pepper in the yurt or from the office. - Website lacking of info when dealing with them directly. - Not to assume that everyone books via a platform for which the business has to pay a commission. We went direct and we would have liked more communication. I nearly cancelled at the last minute and claim my money back via my bank which they would have honoured. Glad we went though! We brought our laptop to use as a TV via WIFI in case the weather was not that great in the evening. It was useful ;-)

It’s not a 5 stars camping. Very disappointing.

Reviewed By 483benedicteb

Review for my mom and step dad who stayed 8 days in october 2021 When we arrived no one checked with us the mobile home We didn’t have a coffee maker or hair dryer no garbage in the toilette when we lifted the rug in the living space it was extremely dirty and dusty the gutters where full and there is even weed growing in it. when I went to see the staff and expressed my disappointment in the quality of the service. I was told “because Carefour and Leclerc offer cheap packages then we end up with lower quality mobil home” Before we left it took them a very long time to find our deposit check. It was a very disappointing experience and it s definitely not a 5 stars camping.

Great for a short stay

Reviewed By Julie H

Booked this last minute as part of a very quick stay in France. Great fun. Yurts were very clean, site was clean, owner was very helpful. Toilets and showers and washing area good. Great to find sponges, washing up liquid and tea towels (something we always forget!) Floor in toilet/shower area got very wet, so not sure what this would be like if the site was full, but it was very clean when we stayed there. Just remember to bend over when going in and out, the doors are very short and it's easy to forget or come up too quick. Ample lighting and electrical sockets, heating & cooking equipment. It must have taken ages to paint all the tables & chairs!. Great location, ideal and close to Roscoff. Definitely planning another stay, this time without the car, on bikes.

In a beautiful beach!

Reviewed By Yuri A

This camping is very clean and organised, with big spaces for each pitch. The beach close is very nice with the German bunkers, where you can climb and go when in low tide. There aren't a lot of restaurants close that are open until late, but there is a kebab place really good (googling you'll find it).
