Find out what Pub restaurants to try in West Point. West Point is the oldest continuously occupied military post in the United States. Located on the Hudson River in New York, West Point was identified by General George Washington as the most important strategic position in America during the American Revolution. Until January 1778, West Point was not occupied by the military. On January 27, 1778, Brigadier General Samuel Holden Parsons and his brigade crossed the ice on the Hudson River and climbed to the plain on West Point and from that day to the present, West Point has been occupied by the United States Army. It comprises approximately 16,000 acres (6,500 ha) including the campus of the United States Military Academy, which is commonly called "West Point".

A delightful surprise!!! We were recently invited to a Sunday lunch at Storm King Tavern - and we were absolutely not disappointed!!!Our leisurely lunch was mainly pub fare, but our choices were well prepared and delicious. We went to the BBQ after shopping at Woodbury outlets all day. We were recommended to try it as we wanted a local atmosphere. The owner, Jeff, was extremely friendly and visited our table often. He interacted with the kids and was fun to talk to. The food was really-really good. I highly recommend making this a stop if you are in the Bear Mt region or West Point area. They also had craft beer- local as well as some other NY flare. A must stop and I will again for sure.

My wife and I visited Cold Spring New York to take in a hike and enjoy the bucolic setting of the town and escape Manhattan's bustle for an afternoon. We stopped by Barber and Brew after our hike to relax and try some of the local brews on tap. The mushroom pate was amazing, as was the pub cheese that was served with hard pretzels. I had a brown ale that was on tap and my wife had a refreshing hibiscus tea. There's a number of other items that looked great - the pork and duck terrine and the charcuterie plate in particular. The place has a great casual vibe with an upscale offering of drinks and appetizers - a great combo to enjoy an afternoon with friends.

Whistling Willie's American Grill

Our party of two went to WW on a Saturday night for drinks and a bite. We liked the classic atmosphere of the place and the hostess was charming. We ordered beers (nice selection on tap and in bottles) and then selected a special from the blackboard, Crab Cake Salad, and a few minutes later were told they had just run out of crab cakes. Okay, this happens, that's fine, but instead of erasing it from the chalkboard or--if they wanted to keep it there for the next day--a notation they were out would have been helpful to other diners. But they just left it there, along with another crab cake dish, and the same thing happened to a party next to us after they spent some time with their menus. Another item we ordered was not available, ahi tuna salad, so we finally settled on the fried calamari and a portobello panini. The Crab Cake Salad and Crab Cake Sliders specials remained on the blackboard for the duration of our meal with nothing to indicate to other diners that they were no longer available.Fried calamari is something you see on many menus and you expect them to be tender and hot, or at least warm. These were not hot out of the fryer. They were chewy and room-temp, as if they had spent some time under the heat lamp some time ago, before being left to cool elsewhere. The only reason I ate any of them at all was that I was really hungry. Portion size was good and there was a good mix of tubes and tentacles. The server did not return to check on how things were at all during our meal, but did bring us lemon when asked. When I opened the portobello panini to add salt and pepper (we had asked them to hold the chipotle mayo so it needed something), I found that they had substituted common button mushrooms for the portobello. Although there was a leaf or two of the baby arugula that was on the menu, there was no sign of the roasted red peppers that were listed as an ingredient. I feel that if they ran out of the more expensive (and more flavorful) portobellos that they should have told us this when we ordered or shortly thereafter, instead of trying to play us for fools and hope we wouldn't notice. I thought the truffle fries that came with the sandwich were tasty, although my companion thought a couple were stale. In sum, it's nice to know that things aren't available before you spend time with a menu. The kitchen needs to communicate with the staff as soon as things run out so that when people are seated they are informed. It's not fun to spend time looking over a menu, choosing something and finding out it's not available, or to get it and have its main ingredient substituted with something else. It's nice for a server to check if everything is okay at some point not too long after the food is served. And if changes or substitutions are made in the main component of a dish (eg button mushrooms for portobellos), the customer should be informed of that so they can change their order if they like. This may not have been a server issue but faulty communication on the part of the kitchen staff. I hope they were just too busy ... I've worked as a line cook and I know things can get crazy, especially if someone calls in sick and you're short-staffed. So I hope this was an isolated incident for Whistling Willies.

Was here for a wedding reception, and I have to say the WP Club knocked it out of the park! The location and the million-dollar views are unbeatable. The staff was absolutely top notch. They were very friendly and incredibly helpful for the wedding party. The food was great--everyone said it was some of the best wedding food they'd had--hot and actually had taste! The open bar service was phenomenal. We had a lot of poor experiences with the wedding dealing with other directorates on West Point, but the WP Club completely saved the day with a near picture perfect reception!

Doug's Pretty Good Pub

The village pub where you can wash away the dust of everyday life and enjoy great pub fare.

Doug's Pub is a lot more than just "pretty good." As a matter of fact, it's great! He offers a great selection of beers (8 on tap--pilsener, pale ales, IPAs) and your standard bottled beers (Bud, Coors, etc), an extensive selection of Kentucky, local and western bourbons, single malt scotches, seven types of Tequilas, Irish and "just plain old whiskey" (quotation marks mine). The burgers and French fries are super. You have a choice of eight different types of burgers (I had the Breakfast Burger--half pound of juicy fresh ground beef w/bacon and sunny-side up fried egg on toasted English muffin, with golden brown French fries!--WOW!) If you don't want a burger, there are eight other menu items to choose from--BLTs to hot dogs to chicken wings to shrimp and red cabbage tacos. Something for everyone!Diner's in Doug's Pub enjoy a comfortable and friendly atmosphere--authentic pub ambience. Amber, the Day Manager, does an excellent job ensuring that all of the diners' appetites and thirsts are satisfied.I highly recommend Doug's Pretty Good Pub because of the excellent choice of beers, large, tasty and satisfying burgers and French fries, excellent service, and true pub ambience. It doesn't get much better than Doug's!

Good snack foods/meals here but also expert bar tending. They actually carry Lagavulin scotch whiskey and the bartender immediately offered a palate cleansing tonic water to ensure a good experience - a true professional. The bar staff were also very helpful in serving our larger group with several bottles of wine and beer on the mezzanine where we had an informal pizza party. Can be very busy and fills up quickly.Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I have shared your words with our Director of Food & Beverage so that he may share your compliments with the team! We look forward to hosting you again in the future.
