The waiter was very friendly and helped us by speaking in English which was very nice. Unfortunately the menu is limited after 3pm to toasted sandwiches, crepes and ice cream but nonetheless it was pleasant and we enjoyed sitting outside. The beers are expensive and can be found cheaper in other bars (try the one down the alley).

We ate here because (to our irritation) our hotel, HOTEL LA SAPINIERE, does not open its restaurant on Sunday evenings. We were hoping for an early dinner, but St-Omer restaurants, as is typical, start service at 7pm. We arrived at Bistro 28 at 6pm, were told that service generally started at 6:30pm, but were served anyway. All good. We had the mussels and some wine. It was all fine. We were served by the owner and he was fairly attentive. The only odd thing was that he directed all comments to me, and never made eye contact with my wife. I find that very obvious and a little uncomfortable.

We visit St Omer once or twice a year for Lunch, and on this occasion our normal Bar Brasserie was closed for some maintaince work, so fortunately the Spey was, so we spent a couple of hours there enjoying some Wine and Food. The food menu was varied and reasonably priced and came well prepared and presented nicely and what should have been hot was hot, more than adequate portions very good.Thank you.Staff were helpful and attentive.Only critism was it was rather chilly especially as it was Raining and had been all morning.

We stopped here for drinks whilst in the area. Unfortunately we did not eat here and I am not totally sure if food is available. The bar is very friendly and there is an excellent range of drinks on offer. There is a friendly happy atmosphere within the pub and the locals appear keen to speak and be friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here and would visit again without hesitation

If you want to discover local food and nice northern french beers, you are at the right place ! Full menu during lunch and food-pub every night ! Sometimes during the week end, we also organize concerts. See you soon at the Taverne de Duchenot !

I went to the tavern two times: The first time I had lunch there which was delicious: The cuisine is regional and serves fresh food only! But even better: the choice of beer seems rather unlimited, the Anostheke from the draft is a pure delight! The latter was also the reason why I came back in the evening, the owner does everything to make you feel at ease in this cosy place: You have a vinyl collection to choose from, you can play Wii in the background or just hang and talk to the nice people that make the place worth is visit. Sometimes there are concerts, so I will definitely come back and check that out on my next stop. You should too!

Run by an extremely welcoming and knowledgeable couple this bar is a real gem in St Omer. Spent a great evening being educated on the pros, cons and nuiances of some fine French and Belgian beers. An excellent ambiance with the locals too lends itself to a bar where you could easily while away a moment or two.
