TA helped us find this place and we are so glad we didIt was really busy but they said a table would be available in 20 mins so we took an opportunity to stroll around which was nice as the weather was really warm. Sure enough when we got back we were waved in and seated in the rear of the place. Great decor, the menu was extensive. The food was really good but so much of it. We all went for a combination meal but could have shared one with a few sides to be honest. We have big appetites so that is saying something. We took our left overs home. Really enjoyed and it was buzzing on the Friday evening that we visited.

I had high hopes for this restaurant and was disappointed, the food was just ok. My tacos were a bit bland and the serving of beans on the side were canned navy beans dumped in a pot ( with that canned liquid they came in ) and heated up. No flavoring whatsoever. ( Really ? ) The "Mexican " rice was also cooked without any real flavor. The restaurant was clean and the service was excellent, they just need to put a little more effort into food prep. There are many other authentic Mexican restaurants in the area to choose from, smarten up guys.
When you see the outside of this place, you want to keep going. Big mistake! The food is high quality, at a value price. The spicy pork burrito is huge, a massive soft flour tortilla wrapped around chucks of tender pork, rice, beans veggies, enveloped in a spicy sauce. Only the biggest appetite can finish this monster. The soft beef taco's are marinated minced flank steak, not the greasy ground beef you normally get. Free hot carrots, fresh radish slices, all the true Mexican condiments! My hubby & our friends want to go just for the hot carrots! Nice family run business, clean on the inside, dingy on the outside, just a jewel in the heart of North Highlands. Large menu, meats, seafood, chicken dishes, all home style recipes from the streets of Mexico. Can't wait to go again.
Have gone twice and thoroughly enjoyed it both times. First time I had the lunch special which was a chile relleno and a taco served with rice and beans, both were very good. The second time I had a taco salad which was also very good especially when you add some salsa from their chips and salsa bar which is free to everyone. I hear their seafood is excellent and the ceviche looked awesome so if I can manage another visit this week (visiting) I'll try that. I would recommend to anyone, very good food, very reasonably priced.

Every day at 8 a.m., we start chopping veggies, soaking beans, and prepping our mesquite-fired grill. Not because we have to, but because we believe in delicious flavors made-to-order, from hand-rolled enchiladas to our sizzling fajitas to guacamole made
We went to On The Border as a couple and with friends in August. The first time my husband and I both ordered the Ultimate Fajita plate at $19.99 each. It was very good and we had food for more than another meal. Oooh, I like that kind of leftovers. The tortillas, chicken-steak-carnitas meats, the rice, and the beans were all very good. We went back later in the month with friends and the food ordered was all great again. We'll definitely be back!
I always make it a point to visit a Jimboys when I visit the Sacramento area. The tacos are excellent, and everything else is pretty good too. This particular location is a little run down; the roof was leaking during our visit, but the food was tasty none the less.
Very small and quaint place. Family run business. Very good food, very generous portions, very good prices. Has some domestic and Mexican beers. Great for lunch on the run but great for dinner too.
We discovered this coffee shop because we moved near the place. We go for their Cuban sandwich and aoli sauce ,it is the bomb. We can't even try any other sandwich because it is so good. They gave me a salad instead of chips and soda when I asked. They have a number of drinks, shakes and coffee but I haven't tried those but they sound good.

Went there about a week ago with two friends to try out this "highly recommended" place in Rio Linda; it was even farther "north" than I expected and certainly in a typical "Rio Linda" setting (= NOT upscale at all). Prices were fair for the quality and size of the servings, BUT I would NOT drive there again (from W. Sacramento) as it was "good," but not the absolutely "4 Star" rating the major paper assigned. YES, it is authentic, but I,personally, prefer the chile rellano in a number of other places. IMHO, Casa Ramos (various locations" is worth a 20 mile drive, but ....not this option.
