We had dinner at Don Cesar this evening. It was nothing short of great. The waiter brought chips and salsa while we looked at the menu. The chips were not oily and were very fresh, and the salsa delicious. We had the daily special appetizer, chicken empanadas, which were absolutely freshly made and perfectly cooked. We had the fajitas for two. Wonderful. Steak, chicken, carnitas and shrimp, with onions, peppers and tomatoes. We each had a dish of sour cream, refried beans and rice, all first rate. The food was tasty, came out sizzling and would be almost impossible for two people to eat! We took home enough for a great lunch. All in all, this was great food, and we can't wait to go back. Additionally, the sangria was among the best we've ever had -- anywhere.Hope this is helpful! You WILL enjoy Don Cesar's.

It isn't easy to find authentic Dominican food. But this place has it. the only downside is that the food is already cooked and is kept warm for customers. but it is pretty good and very very inexpensive.

This is one of Perth Amboy's little hidden gems. This little corner store neighborhood restaurant offers delicious, authentic food served up by two hard-working women who love what they do. The first time I visited, those mujeres were making a stack of flour tortillas by hand. I recommend the huitlacoche quesadilla, a bargain at $5. It was stuffed with the huitlacoche, onions, black beans, and bits of hot pepper and so scrumptious I went back for another meal a few days later and brought two of me shipmates along. We shared another huitlacoche quesadilla, as well as the champinon, and the dessert tamale. I'd love to try the flor de calabaza quesadilla, too, but it was unavailable at the time.Though I have many enjoyable memories of Perth Amboy, Rico Taco Mex is one of the best.

We had not been to this place for decades, and decided to re-visit, because some friends and family members wanted to do that. The place was, and still is, mobbed, and since they do not take reservations, we had to wait more than 45 minutes for our table to be readied. The restaurant is very large, and is friendly and bustling, and this made the noise level way too loud for us. We could barely carry on any conversation at our table.The Menu is quite extensive. Their starter chips were warm and fresh â maybe just a little too salty. Between the six of us, we ordered a bottle of their red wine, Mango Margaritas, Fajitas, Blackened Salmon, Blackened Catfish, etc. Everything was delicious, and the portions were very large, so it was impossible to finish everything. Next time we will share a dish among two people. The food and service were very good. However, given the noise level and the long wait, we are not sure we want to fight the traffic and make the long drive to come here, when we have similar places very close to usIf you do not mind the noisy atmosphere, get your Tex-Mex on and go for it.
