It is in the Cumberland Valley, which is part of the Great Appalachian Valley, and 13 miles (21 km) north of Maryland and the Mason-Dixon line and 52 miles (84 km) southwest of Harrisburg, the state capital. According to the United States Census Bureau, Chambersburg's 2010 population was 20,268. When combined with the surrounding Greene, Hamilton, and Guilford Townships, the population of Greater Chambersburg is 52,273 people. The Chambersburg, PA Micropolitan Statistical Area includes surrounding Franklin County, and in 2010 included 149,618 people.

We did not eat here! Have absolutely no idea if the food is good, average, or bad. We were not seated here. Have absolutely no idea if the service is good, average or bad! So, what's the problem?This restaurant recently changed hands. In a community paper, they ran an ad: a BOGO coupon good until 8/15/15. The BOGO offered either broiled haddock, broiled crab cakes, or 4 pcs.of broasted chicken with 3 sides "& homemade bread". So, we decided to try them and we went for dinner on 8/5/15.On entering there was a white board listing that day's specials and, in large black letters on the bottom: 'We are no longer accepting free dinner coupons'. A hostess asked, "How many"? We had our coupon and asked if, in fact, they were not honoring it. She said, "No.It was extended too long". She then turned from us and walked away.No other explanation was offered and, by her demeanor, she was not about to engage in any conversation.Needless to say, we left! Had dinner at a competitor. I'm sorry that the restaurant goofed in their ad. Not my problem. Was this a classic 'bait and switch'? The unfriendly and dismissive attitude of the hostess was unwarranted. WE WILL NEVER RETURN!

Stopped by around 2:30 on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Ordered a Maryland Crab Soup and a turkey club. Both were very good. I have been stopping occasionally at Hat's Heroes for lunch since they have opened. Always dependable, clean and good food. Probably one of the best places in Chambersburg for lunch.

We decided after walking around downtown Chambersburg to give this place a try. One place we were going to go to was closed up. So our walk lead us to Historic Texas Lunch. Across the street is their ice cream stand as well. We were seated quickly, menus and beverages offered quickly. A new staff member, Samantha I believe was her name took care of us. Very nice,very attentive and I would of never guessed she was a new server. Seemed to have a good handle on everything. I did inquire about substituting oysters on the seafood platter, she inquired and returned saying that it depended what I wanted to replace it with. I told her I decided to do the broiled fish with crab meat stuffing, feeling it might be better to go a little lighter. She asked if I was sure. I was. The menu has a lot of choices. My husband ordered country fried steak. Cheese sticks for an appetizer. Everything came out in good time and prepared very well. It wasn't the fanciest of dinners but it was enjoyable, service and food was good. I was very tempted to return to try their fresh made donuts they make in the morning. Time didn't allow but they sounded good. They serve all three meals, a nice variety of stuff. I felt there was something for everyone, yes similar to diner fair. Portions were plentiful and no complaints. Would return if I was in the area.

This time we went I got there broasted chicken for peace with french fries and macaroni salad. The best part is you get a free scoop of ice cream at the end which is a nice way to top off dinner.

We enjoyed this diner so much we returned the next day and ordered exactly the same meals! The servers were incredibly pleasant and helpful, very prompt with meals and refills. I would definitely recommend for a breakfast place. We did not try out the rest of the menu
