Sayers Sister

Reviewed By UdonMa

We went there for brunch and I have French toast with poached pear. That's the best french toast I ever had:- Great bread for the toast with char grilled surface, served with sweet barbeque bacon, salty caramel sauce, creamy custard, fresh strawberries and peppermint together with a nicely poached whole pear. Love the details and heart they have put into making this dish so delicious!! I knew it is going to be good after seeing all the review but it's another thing when you actually taste it!! Would definitely come again when i visit Perth in the future. The menu is full of other things I'd like to taste next time!!

Went there for lunch today 3 couples, $330 later! Overpriced special of beef, 2 cherry tomatoes and 2 baby carrots. Very disappointed. Called into Maccas on the way home as still hungry. Cork & Bottle Old Perth Road

Adult small bar offering craft beer, cider, a large range of local wines and a selection of national and international representatives. Fine spirits available too. Expect the unexpected. Our food is small meal and share plate style with something for ever

I think I'm going against the flow here judging from the other reviews so maybe we had an off night. Its a lovely spot. Good atmosphere and it had a European bar feel which is always a plus.We looked at the beers, from memory there was London Pride, Trumper Pils, a cider and a mid strength. An additional beer had run out. There was a sparkling wine special which was decent value at $5 a glass. The young lady who served us didn't seem to know anything about the beers such as their strength or what the special offer on wine was. She did ask someone else each time we asked a question but in the end it got a bit embarrassing. So we stopped asking. But it would be good if bar staff knew the basics - where the beers are from and their strength. And what the wine special is! The food was OK. The fish tacos were pretty good but the platter - can't remember the name but it had cheese, some ham, pickle, bread and a mini quiche - was a bit disappointing- especially for $22. Having said that we saw plates of calamari and fish come out of the kitchen which looked much better and we wish we'd ordered those dishes.Outside there was a clear non-smoking sign and a metal chain which I suspect separated the smokers from the non smokers. But it was a bit farcical because one woman was sitting right next to the chain smoking and the smell was drifting over all the diners eating in the non smoking area. One neighbouring table were complaining to one another until they got up and moved inside. We stuck it out but it wasn't pleasant. Not sure if we'd go again - I think it could be fantastic with a few tweaks. Thanks for your feedback. We have got a new girl training at the moment and yes it can seem a bit annoying to have staff not be 100% on the menu, but we have to start somewhere. We have a policy of training local youngsters to get them into the industry which can be testing but it pays dividends in the long run.As for the smoking, we have had a few militant smokers recently and we have now reviewed the signage and clearly marked the smoking area which is 5+ metres from the alfresco area.
