Trying new places around town and we found Smokin Guns bbq on Diners Drive In’s and Dives. Very family friendly atmosphere with excellent service. Food was good as well. I particularly enjoyed their smoked bologna sandwich. Great flavor and presentation. Burnt ends were meaty and you received a good portion. Smoked turkey was excellent, not to dry and not too smoky. Baked beans had great flavor and I love them when their thick not runny which these were. Overall excellent time. By the way they have live music outside on the porch on weekends. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the area!!!

Jack Stack Barbeque

Reviewed By LainieT

Was recommended by a local. We went for early dinner at 430 and was told the wait would be 45 minutes. The wait was actually 15 minutes. We had the burnt ends; melted in your mouth, lamb ribs; a little gamey but full of flavor, brisket; was ok, half chicken; my favorite part of the meal. Service was exceptional! Thank you for the review! We appreciate your feedback and hope to see you back soon!

I was with a group of friends that try different places to eat once a month. This month pick was BBQ. Hawg Jaw is in industrial area of North Kansas City and right around to corner from Big Rip Brewery (bonus!). Like many of BBQ places, they are not fancy in decor, but let's be honest one comes here for the food. Indoor sitting has chairs & tables with utensils, various BBQ sauce and lots of paper towels. One orders food up front and they call out your name to pick it up when ready. Probably one of their better deals is the sampler platter which they have a various sizes for 1-2 person, 3-4 etc. They also have specialties including a Reuben sandwich which a few people ordered. Portions are huge, and they have a lot of "boxes" ready to go. I tried their loaded baked potato, mostly because I was hoping it was a meal I could finish there. I subbed out the pulled pork for burnt ends. I did find it just ok, I would probably try something else the next time I am there. Most people enjoyed their food choices and it was fun to hang out and talk.

County Road Ice House

County Road Ice House is in a block full of restaurants and bars in KC’s Power & Light District. We ate dinner there on a night when there was a concert at the neighboring Sprint Center. It was busy and noisy until just before the concert started, when it seemed like everybody got up and left. So we were able to continue our meal in relative peace and quiet! Husband got ribs and one meat (brisket, but somewhat too lean) with toast and pickles and Mexican corn, and I got the house salad, which was quite good. The barbecue is from Joe’s in Kansas City, Kansas, and was very tasty.

Arthur Bryant's BBQ

Reviewed By jnvpulv

Came here on the recommendation of the b&b owners we were staying with. Visited the blues museum and negro baseball hall of fame which was right around the corner practically. BBQ was very good. We had the burnt ends there in the restaurant and the pulled pork sandwich we took to the Chiefs game that nite. Great tasting sauce, tender meat. Needless to say when you go to his place your there for the food not the ambience. The interior is stark, just basic tables to sit, eat your food and leave. The BBQ here is the real deal.
