La Rochelle is a fascinating place to wonder round, lots of interesting architecture. But feeling footsore and only wanting a light lunch we came upon Cafe Coulisses.Just what we were looking for. I had a croque monsieur with a very nice glass of rose and my husband an omelette. We both enjoyed our meals and the service was efficient and friendly.

We visited here twice during our stayThe food was good, all meat is served raw so I need to say extra extra well doneItâs the only and close place to get an American style burger Beers from a bottle are the best beer here

This is quite a new restaurant open from breakfast and for lunch. Dinner is not served. A local friend suggested that we share lunch there and we were not disappointed. We opted for a burger and can truthfully report that it was of the very best, in any nation, that we have ever eaten (and that's a good few). The bread was provided by a local boulangerie (which my friend herself uses as the best in town). The service was cordial and prompt. Thee place was filled to capacity on the terrace and extra tables were needed to be supplied. Very highly recommended.
