This was our first time trying this place as it had been highly recommended by friends. Street parking is a little limited at the peak of lunchtime, but there is a pay lot at the end of the street, 3 minute walk. It's a small place, 8-9 tables tops. You pick a table, review the menu and then go to the counter to order and pay. Your selections are served to your table. What is lacking in service and atmosphere is overwhelmingly made up for in the quality of the food. My husband had the curried chicken kebab over a bed of Laotian fried rice with a side sauce. I had the chicken and rice soup with spring onions, cilantro and crispy garlic. Luckily, I asked to see the bowls ahead of time as the small bowl was more than enough as a lunch serving. We both had Vegetable egg rolls as an appetizer. I swear if I'd had any more room, I would have ordered one of the many unique desserts on offer. Needless to say, we can't wait to go back. They also appeared to be doing a landmark take out service! Nice to see a new restaurant doing so well downtown.

Apsara, on Bank Place in Utica, NY, has only been open a few months. It is a small, friendly venue. One waiter seems to do everything except cook. The kitchen appears to be tiny. But what comes out of that kitchen!! Super delicious Asian food with a Cambodian touch. I had the Shrimp Pad Thai, and can't wait to go back and have it again. Other choices include Cambodian salads and various soups. Give this place a try! You''ll love it!! (Embarrassingly inexpensive!!)Came

The place doesn't look like much from the outside and the street parking is kind of funky but the interior is clean and nice. The menu selection is fabulous and the food we had was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try some more items. No liquor license, sadly, but the tea was very good.

We had a wonderful meal at this very nice Asian restaurant in downtown Utica, NY. The menu was quite varied, with selections of Cambodian, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai, Chinese and Korean cuisine available. My daughter and I ordered Seaweed Salad and Tom Yum(?) soup appetizers and Chicken Fried Rice and Khmer Green Curry entrees. All were delicious. The soup was flavorful and fiery, just at about at my limit of spice. The Khmer Green Curry was full of chicken and a variety crisp vegetables in plenty of sauce, with just the right amount of bite. The Chicken Fried Rice had plenty of vegetables and chicken and was very flavorful. All portions were generous and enough of each were brought home to make for a great meal the next day. So if you have craving for Asian cuisine and not quite sure what kind you want, give Lotus Garden a try. I don't think you will be disappointed!

We were there on a Friday night, and there were few patrons. We were seated next to a party with young children, and the nearby TV was blasting Nickelodeon. We asked if we could move further away from the loud TV, but the waitress retorted that there was a TV at the other end, too. (I happened by that TV later on the way to the bathroom, and it was tuned to the news at a much lower volume.) The dishes and utensils were basic (reminiscent of a college cafeteria), but the food was good and affordable. Shortly after being served, the party with the children left, so we figured when the waitress came by to check on us, we could ask if they could turn the TV off (or at least turn down the volume). No such luck, as the waitress never came back to the table again except to deliver the check when we were done.
