The Beehive

I have taken my sister, sister-in-law, 2 out of town guests, and my best friend to Beehive. It is wonderful and everyone has always enjoyed eating there. The portions are fresh, ample, and the servers always making sure to please their clients. Their hours are also great. My only reservation is that it truly is a "Beehive", so I try to go in off-busy hours; otherwise, it can be hard to have a quiet conversation. But the healthy and varied food choices at very reasonable prices makes the Beehive excel in Armonk.

Handsome Companion and I returned to Moderne Barn last week. It was Restaurant Week, which is always such an amazing deal. We ordered the same dinner, starting with Nonna’s Meatballs, three small and somewhat spicy meatballs served in a rich tomato sauce with a dollop of ricotta. With a glass of Sangiovese, there isn’t much better food on earth. We also both ordered the Roast Chicken, served with a cheesy polenta and spinach. The chicken was overcooked, dry beyond edibility, and utterly devoid of taste. It was surprising that a restaurant this good could miss the mark this badly, but I guess it happens. The polenta was delicious and the service was excellent.I’ve dropped one star (from my last review) and not two, because our waiter, to his credit, apologized and brought us an extra dessert; a nice gesture made even nicer by the fact that the dessert, an espresso creme brûlée, was exquisite. A restaurant can’t do much more than that to correct a cooking error. Next time, I will pass on the chicken.

We were looking for a "new" place to try and found this on one the web.We dined here on a recent Saturday. Had a 6:45 reservation that was honored right on time and we were seated promptly. The place was already busy and about 80% of the tables were full.It was VERY noisy and tables were close but everyone managed. Service was friendly and prompt. We had a tasty "eggplant stack" appetizer that came hot and crisp. The eggplant was firm but juicy. The accompanying greens were fresh and the dressing was very good,The salads were OK but unimpressive. We had the Classic Caesar and the "Wedge" Salads. The Caesar was crisp but a bit "watery" and could have used a little more dressing. It was a competent version of Caesar but not the best I've had. My friends wedge was a little smaller than versions from other restaurants and its not like iceberg lettuce is scarce. The entrees were another story. The ribs were very good. A nice blend of sweet and savory sauce was plentiful and the meat was classic "fall off the bone" tender. Portions were ample and the french fries and coleslaw we both delish. The prosciutto Flat bread also was tasty and the turkey burger was juicy altho a little on the "thin" side. All in all it was a good experience and we will come back. You should try it too. Thanks for visiting and I'm happy to see you were pleased with your experience! We wish you'd been more impressed by our salads. Please know you should always let us know if you're unhappy with your meal and our team will do what we can to take care of you. We do tend to get busier at certain times, especially around dinner on the weekend. I'm thrilled you enjoyed your eggplant stack, ribs and flatbread. Hope to see you soon
