Real local. Real good comfort foods. Real friendly service even if you’re not local. Breakfast is not to be missed. I had two eggs over easy with a sausage patty, hasbrowns and a biscuit.Mighty, mighty fine and certainly a plate full of goodness. My wife loved her veggie omelet. We waddled out of there as very happy people.

Great breakfast. Mom in the kitchen, daughter serving, and the kids in Little League uniforms chowing down pancakes at the counter. Truly a locals stop and I now see why. Great friendly service, good food and generous portions. What's not to like? There was no sign when we were there but just go to the M odoc Auction Yard (red building ) on Hwy 299; the cafe is at the west end of the building. Enjoy.

Read previous reviews and decided it was worth a stop. GLad we did! Excellent service and delicious food with the added bonus of an espresso bar!! It was pleasantly busy but service was consistantly smooth. Wish we had more time to explore the town...worth a stop!!

Passing through Alturas last week, we stopped here for dinner. Classic drive in restaurant with great food and atmosphere. We had burgers, chicken, shakes, etc - everything was perfect. We sat outside, chatted with the locals, and people watched. When we were there it was really busy, and the staff was hustling to keep up with the orders and get the food out. Fantastic!Thank you for taking the time to post your review. So glad you were pleased with your visit here. We do have some awesome locals around and they tell some great stories. Hope you will visit again on your next trip through...

Well it's been more than a year since I was up here working. And now that I have retired I can now bring the wife to all the wonderful places I have been. We ate here at the Brass rail and it was as usual great. We both had rib steaks and hey were cooked to perfection. Turns out Sunday night the side is raviolas. Always wanted to go on a sunday but never could get back into town in time. Best night
