Asturias, Spain Food Guide: 7 Fusion food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Gijon

April 6, 2020 Velvet Champine

Discover Restaurants offering the best Fusion food in Gijon, Asturias, Spain. This port city of about 275,000 on Spain’s north coast began 3,000 years ago as a fishing village. Today it’s a departure point for regional cruises, making it busy in summer (and making us wonder what those ancient fisherman would have thought of cruise ships). The original village, Cimadevilla, with its narrow, cobblestone streets, draws many tourists, and Cerro de Santa Catalina park at the tip of Cimadevilla’s peninsula provides great coastal views.

Lovely restaurant in the heart of the old town. Warm welcome all round with good table service. The food is delicious and good value for money, although could have included some fresh vegetables. The eating area is stylish although it was too hot with the lighting above our table dimming without reason and the plants hanging on the walls needed watering badly! We would eat here again :)

Excellent layout, very good selections for food and drinks.Very friendly and professional helpful staff.Lovely bar area and comfy seating.Restaurant style area,to one side and outside terrace style as well.Upmarket in style food and drinks compared to many nearby.Pricey by comparison to nearby but very good value. Small and cosy eatery, just by the port. Everything is brand new and impeccable clean, with quite a few design details in its decor. Food is delicious, with an innovative touch, well prepared and presented. The menu list is not very long, but varied. Unlike what you usually find in many restaurants in Northern Spain, they apparently focus more on quality than on quantity. Anyway, you´ll be satisfied. Prices are over average, but not exaggeratedly, I didn´t find it particularly expensive by any means. Caring and friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere.

Great food, great wine, great service. Started off with Nordes gin tonic with tapas, then ribiero del duero with dumplings and tosta, great cava with chicken and prawn samosas and then the hamburguesas. Beaut cheesecake for desert and then vermouth. Highly recommended.

We were very excited about dining here as it's our first Michelin star restaurant abroad, having visited various Michelin starred restaurants in the UK, however we felt a little let down by this one.Our table was booked for 9pm, early by Spanish standards granted, however, we were left outside for a while before being asked to follow someone to our table. Great, except my husband is in a wheelchair & there's a step into the restaurant.....we had pre-warned them of the access requirements and they told us they were fully accessible. Anyway, a guy tipped my husband back and got him through the door.We were the only diners until about 10-30pm so the staff busied themselves by ironing the table cloths on the tables around us and generally mooching. My jacket wasn't taken from me either so I ended up putting it on the back of my chair. The food was good and the portions were big but, as others have said, could've done with some seasoning. On the way out we were left to struggle back down the step alone....I don't think this has lived up to the same standards as other one star restaurants we have visited. The food was good and the bill wasn't as high as other places but I think it's a very good restaurant at best, not worthy of a star.
