Asturias, Spain Food Guide: 10 Mediterranean food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Gijon

Best Mediterranean restaurants nearby. Discover the best Mediterranean food in Gijon. View Menus, Photos and Reviews for Mediterranean restaurants near you.. This port city of about 275,000 on Spain’s north coast began 3,000 years ago as a fishing village. Today it’s a departure point for regional cruises, making it busy in summer (and making us wonder what those ancient fisherman would have thought of cruise ships). The original village, Cimadevilla, with its narrow, cobblestone streets, draws many tourists, and Cerro de Santa Catalina park at the tip of Cimadevilla’s peninsula provides great coastal views.

Yet again, people raving about this place. Very oily food, boring sides (chips or green leaves salad), quite pricey for the food we got. I think it is the typical Spanish food that gets amazing reviews due to the size of the portions, but if you are also looking for decent quality food on the healthy side, this is not the place for you. I won't go back.

Traditional furbished restaurant in Gijon where to enjoy mainly different type of meat dishes. Tartar, "Callos","Picanha" and several others. All of them magnificent. Also fish available. Very good wine offer. Definitely a restaurant to visit when in Gijon. Prices in line with the quality.

A well attended by mostly locals and businessmen; this restaurant is hidden behind closed doors at the bar of the Casino and lauds itself as serving the best fabada Asturiana in the world (typical Asturias white bean stew). Ordered it for a party of four and it was indeed excellent but not sure it was the best in the world; found very few broken beans which might frawn the purists. They serve also excellent special menus of the day at a very moderate price with include a 3 course meal and half bottle of wine.A very enjoyable restaurant indeed!

We went here after reading the reviews, we had to go three times before we eventually got a booking that suited us as it was always full. Make sure you book in advance. They encourage families with young children and seem to get them to make drawings which are then stuck up on the wall.I had a pizza which is my favourite, four cheeses which was very good but far too big to eat it all. My coeliac wife had a salad, also huge and probably a meal for three people in itself. She reported this as very good and they provided gluten free bread as well. They also had a selection of gluten free pasta.Overall a very pleasant experience. What makes it stand out though is the excellent value for money. Cheaper than most other places in the area and it was the best pizza for the price that I have had in Spain, so far.Happy to recommend and we will go back. If I had a criticism it would be that I would have liked to have seen a good seafood pizza on the menu.

I took my parents for lunch to La Tabla on our recent visit to Gijon and this restaurant didn't disappoint. Location is outstanding, great views of the countryside, slightly out of the city centre, 10 minute journey in a taxi. The waiters are really welcoming and attentive without being too pushy. Food was brilliant. Being from Gijon and being used to the type of food, bars and restaurants have to offer, I'm so proud to see a restaurant like this one in our city. Presentation, attention to detail, creativity, everything was there. Absolutely wonderful. If I lived in Gijon this would be my regular restaurant. We had a good selection of wine at a very reasonable price. I can't wait to go back to Gijon and to visit this restaurant again. Thank you for a fantastic lunch.

We were the only customers for a 2 PM lunch in this small 8 table pizza, salad only establishment. With a Spanish only menu it was a little difficult to figure out the ingredients but a patient and cheerful waitress & chef showed us rather than described what was what.We shared an excellent salad, an especially thin crust pizza and a 2 glasses of local wine. Fairly priced, off the beaten path and worth a visit if you have salad & pizza in mind.

We were very excited about dining here as it's our first Michelin star restaurant abroad, having visited various Michelin starred restaurants in the UK, however we felt a little let down by this one.Our table was booked for 9pm, early by Spanish standards granted, however, we were left outside for a while before being asked to follow someone to our table. Great, except my husband is in a wheelchair & there's a step into the restaurant.....we had pre-warned them of the access requirements and they told us they were fully accessible. Anyway, a guy tipped my husband back and got him through the door.We were the only diners until about 10-30pm so the staff busied themselves by ironing the table cloths on the tables around us and generally mooching. My jacket wasn't taken from me either so I ended up putting it on the back of my chair. The food was good and the portions were big but, as others have said, could've done with some seasoning. On the way out we were left to struggle back down the step alone....I don't think this has lived up to the same standards as other one star restaurants we have visited. The food was good and the bill wasn't as high as other places but I think it's a very good restaurant at best, not worthy of a star.

As usual a bit hard to find with the mobile Phone navigation but when found we where easily convinced this was the place!Interior might benefit from a bit more modern furniture and decoration. Look a bit standard while the food and service isn't.We took the dinner which was absolutely a very good choice. All fresh an very tastefull dishes, perfectly fitting wines (good wine advice) made this the winner of our trip thanks for the excellent food and service.
