The state of Arizona is one that features a fantastic diversity of landscapes and areas of geological interest. North Arizona is famous for the Grand Canyon, a colorful chasm with steep rocky walls more than a mile deep and stretching some 277 miles alongside the Colorado River. Other notable destinations in North Arizona include Flagstaff set alongside the San Francisco Peaks which has the largest ponderosa pine forest, Museum of Northern Arizona, and is close to a number of national parks and monuments. On the south side of Arizona lies the city of Phoenix, the largest in Arizona. Notable day trips in Phoenix include the Heard Museum which is one of America's largest collections of Native American art, Phoenix Museum of History, as well as the Desert Botanical garden which has a great collection of desert plants.

Cabins are comfortable and as described on their website. Only wish for a few more flat surfaces to put things/eat/open luggage. Definitely plan ahead for your meals! There are 2 trails: one is .5 mile round trip but the other is 2.1 miles out and back. Be careful which you’re on! The bus to the glass bridge can pick you up here.

Esther was very welcoming and accommodating. She showed us all the amenities, as well as, offered us contact numbers to local businesses and activities in the area during our stay. The bedroom was homey and very quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and filling. We weren't able to take advantage of the horseback riding, as our time was limited, but we definitely will go back to enjoy that. I highly recommend Freedom on the go ranch!

Fabulous Arizona Dude Ranch

Reviewed By TinaHillLoves

We had reservations at Stagecoach Trails Guest Ranch, an all inclusive Arizona dude ranch, for the last two nites of our National Parks vacation. This family friendly ranch is owned and operated by JP and Tricia McCormick and family. We had a two bedroom suite, which offered a king bedroom with bathroom and adjoining bedroom with two bunk bed sets, living room area, and another bathroom. All areas have air conditioning. The entire ranch is designed southwestern in theme, from bedroom suites, to main hall, to the dining area. The beds were beyond comfortable, the rooms were clean, and the food was DELICIOUS (I want that ham recipe). There is so much I want to say about the ranch because it really is a remarkable and highly rated (Trip Advisor) dude ranch. Everyone is friendly...from the owners, to the help, to the other guests. Tricia, JP, and family go out of their way to make you feel welcome and include you in ranch activities. Our youngest son (20) was involved in an old fashioned shootout our first nite. And on our second nite, with all the guests gathered around the fire pit, we were treated to Cayden McCormick's singing and guitar playing, while our girls held baby goats while listening and stargazing. Fire pit gathering on the large patio happens after the spectacular views of the sun setting. Big pause here...the sunsets are breathtaking! On property, they have horses, goats, a donkey, the family dogs, and a llama. Horseriding was scheduled for 6am and 6pm (due to the heat...about 100° mid afternoon), ATVs, wagon rides, and shooting range are also available. My family enjoyed the shooting range, horseback riding, pool, taking in the scenery of the Old West, and walking around the terrain. The ranch has a wide collection of artistic pieces ranging from new to artifacts, including: old wagons, a stagecoach, prints, literature, ceramics, authentic Native American weapons, and sculptures throughout the property. So, this destination is not only for people seeking to experience the Wild West and nature but also for those interested in southwestern art. As an artist myself, I was very attracted to the creative, cultural, and decorative tems on display. I cannot recommend this phenomenal dude ranch enough if you're looking for an awesome, one of a kind, family vacation experience. 5+ Stars from my family! Thank you McCormick family!! Hugs from the Hills!

Cave Creek Ranch

With 7 acres in the Chiricahua Mountains, Cave Creek Ranch has plenty of trails for bird lovers, hikers, and nature lovers to enjoy. Our lodging includes four cottages, two lodges, and a ranch house. We are open year-round, so come unplug from technology and take in the beautiful Arizona scenery.

My wife and I just completed our fifth visit to Cave Creek Canyon and our first stay at Cave Creek Ranch. We are avid birders from South Carolina and we celebrated our 45th anniversary with this trip. We stayed eight nights and our stay could not have been better! Reid and the staff provided just the right level of service we needed. The bird yard is legendary and several guided walks by staff Naturalist James Petersen were informative and fruitful for any birder or nature-lover. The resident Elf Owl made an appearance on the owl walk. If you are a birder or amateur naturalist, you must visit Cave Creek Canyon (the Elegant Trogon is a “must see” for serious birders) and you could not find a better place to stay than Cave Creek Ranch. For an awesome guide, Dave Jasper is legendary! We tallied 85 species, including three owl species. We stayed in unit 4 in the Juniper building on the creek and were treated to hummingbirds, multiple songbirds, Coos deer, and javelinas at our back door. We are already planning our next trip!

Elkhorn Ranch

The Elkhorn Ranch lies 51 miles southwest of Tucson, in a valley where mountains and desert meet. Since 1945, the Miller family has owned and operated the ranch, offering exceptional riding and living for thirty-two guests. Riding is the main interest with gentle or loping rides through the desert and vigorous trips up through the mountains. With seventy head of horses, the right horse can be yours throughout your visit. Come enjoy the Arizona sunshine!

Hands down, the best Arizona guest ranch!

Reviewed By LorraineL1439

I wasn't sure what to expect when I booked Elkhorn. My partner and I have visited 6 other AZ ranches during the covid pandemic. Some were nice; others I wouldn't return to. Some too large. Some with terrible food. One with the most uncomfortable room I have had. Some without any consideration of my immune dysfunction. It was difficult finding availability at Elkhorn (a good sign). When I finally got an email from them that informed me they had received a cancelation and I could have the cabin, I jumped at the opportunity. I am so glad I did! The cabin was sweet. A nice bedroom, living room and bathroom....well thought out for unpacking. Birdfeeders were outside the front door and the rear window as well as birdbaths everywhere. There was an undercurrent of kindness for all living things here at Elkhorn. The horses were very well cared for as you can imagine! And the motto for guests is "Ask and you shall receive." The scenery surrounding the ranch was the best of all the ranches. It was mountainous and magical. The Ocotillo and the Palo Verdes were all in bloom. The riding was superb. I have been to ranches in Montana, New York, and Colorado and I would say this is one of the finest for scenery. It helped that it was spring and the blooms were everywhere. Plenty of riding. Mornings, afternoons, 2 all day rides. Actually, 3 because there was a ride to a picnic lunch (so fun with all the guests) and then we chose to continue for the afternoon. Anymore, there are many large ranches or resort ranches but Elkhorn is your true old fashioned guest ranch. I will be back next April and every April. I have found a new tradition!!

I visited with my wife and two boys in April 2021. This was the highlight of our 12 days Arizona trip and even from our 4 years stay in the US. The room was clean and very comfortable. The food was amazing. The host was always ready to help and made us feel more than welcome. The kids enjoyed playing with the dog, goats and donkey. We loved the wild life, fresh air and starry nights. Short drive to Portal for excellent birding. On our last day, while driving through the ranch gate, the kids asked: when can we return to the ranch?

Very quiet and nicely located if you are riding bikes or hiking the desert. It is out of town, but good restaurants are a short drive away. The Casitas are decorated in an artful Southwestern motif and the kitchen is fully furnished with dishes etc.
