Great stay for Golf

Reviewed By Peter_afc

Stayed here for a week in May for Golf. Room was excellent, shower and bath with two shower heads (rain and hand held). Room was cleaned everyday brilliantly and towels changed daily also. Location of room was good, not too close to reception so away from noise and had a ground floor which was requested pre travel via Elizabete who was really helpful. Stand out for us were all the staff at guest Services who helped with our luggage, ordering the shuttles and nothing was too much trouble. Shuttle drivers also helpful and polite. We could not get an early check in or late check out which made things a little difficult due to golf games on both those days but we were able to use the Gym to shower and change so was manageable. Breakfast buffet was excellent with an omelette station as well as cereals and helpful staff bringing tea/coffee etc. Location is not really near anything but there are on site restaurant options and we mainly ate at the Prais Golf Club House (see separate review) which was convenient and good value we thought. Although the hotel was full it never felt busy and the Pool area was always nearly empty, so this is a main golf venue so customers were out playing rather than sun bathing. We are already looking at booking again for next May, as the two main golf courses were a massive challenge but so enjoyable with so much variety. However, not for the average golfer and I would suggest anything above a 16 handicap who isn't long off the tee will struggle here.

Disappointing

Very disappointing. Expensive Food was bland and tasteless. My sweet patatoe puree was dry and uninspired. The spinach was bitter. The cod tasted awful. The squid had no Taste at all, which in this fase one could call a reliëf. This restaurant used to je rather good, now it is just a tourist trap.

Not worth the price

To start, the front desk at check in was pretty rude. The hotel is virtually empty and she wouldn't upgrade me. I checked in at 3:30 ish, room service wasn't available until 6:30...I skipped lunch and was hungry! At 6:45, I phoned the front desk but there was no answer. So, I walked down. No one was at the bar. A different front desk person was there and just as unhelpful as the first. Good news, the man who took my order was terrific. Only a rain shower head in the shower, bed is HORRIBLE. Pillows too. Good a/c, nice balcony.

Disappointment!

Unfortunately, the only advantage of this place is the location and outwardly pretty house. Otherwise, almost nothing corresponds to the description of the hotel. Very old small rooms with even older furniture. The bathroom is critically small, the shower should be kept in hand. Pillows are the cheapest and uncomfortable. We visited this place in October. The rooms were very damp and cold at night. Hairdryer need to ask the hostess. We booked 3 nights in this hotel. Due to poor conditions, we wanted to leave 1 day earlier, but the hostess stated that we had to pay all 3 nights, despite the fact that the hotel was full of free rooms. Only after our attempt to leave for 1 day before we were brought a heater, although even on arrival we said that the room was very cold. Do not stay here for more than one night, if you are not a surfer there is nothing to do there. Near full of more modern hotels, this hotel is the most recent on the Baleal Peninsula. The cost of the hotel turned out to be the most expensive for the whole trip around Portugal and at the same time it was very unpleasant to stay in it, although we only spent the night there. It is unfortunate that the owners do not invest in comfort for visitors.

It was closed when we got there!

Reviewed By marcysmom

We were booked for MH Dona Rita and when we got there, there was a small sign on the reception door saying that the hotel was closed for the season and that we would be able to stay in their sister hotel, MH Atlantico Golf, which is down the road. We booked this hotel in July, so you would think an email notification would be reasonable, but nope. We had to go there to find the lights were out and nobody was home. To say I'm glad it was closed is an understatement -- MH Dona Rita is in a isolated area and appears run down from the outside. We made our way to their Atlantico Golf hotel so I will write a separate review for that. My advice would be to avoid MH Dona Rita if possible.

Mau Serviço

Reviewed By luis b
