Piastowski Castle

Reviewed By DarlanaLinton - Wakefield, United Kingdom

We visited the renewed castle about 4 years ago. It was still in some preparations for tourists. Apart from that the staff was very friendly and showed us most of the castle for some symbolic fee. There were rooms with different Exhibitions and conference rooms. I really enjoyed the old castle's chapel (in renovation state) - tall, narrow and quite with amazing paintings on the ceiling. We spent there about 2 hours and I'm so angry that I didn't have my camera back then. After an educating visit and a stroll through the park you can come back and have a meal in the restaurant based in the cellars.

Raciborz Tower

Reviewed By Tomek86 - Copenhagen, Denmark

The tower (from 16th century) was a part of a fortification which consisted of 9 towers. It used to be a prison as well. Next to it are the defensive walls from 1290.
Visiting the inside of tower is not possible for public but the city of Raciborz is working, into making it possible in the nearest future to allow visitation.

Raciborz Brewery

Reviewed By Tomek86 - Copenhagen, Denmark

One of the polish oldest Breweries (first mentioned in 1567), but first notes about brews from Raciborz date even 1293.
The brewery has had many problems with bankruptcy, floods etc. and finally in May 2010 it reopened and now is slowly hitting the polish brew market with some amazing beers.
While in Raciborz I have tried many of their beers and I loved every each of them. The top was the "Classic" (klasyczny) and "Honey" (miodowe).
The brewery is just next to the Piastowski Castle (it used to be the Castles brewery back in the day called Schlossbrauerei Ratibor) and visitation is available for public on Saturdays only under scheduled meeting for groups (10 polish zloty per person)
To schedule visitation call 668116460 or write an email to [email protected]
A must visit for beer geeks and beer fanatics.
