Wonderful welcome from the front of house staff. Room was ok and acceptable for what we paid as the major reason for visiting the château was for the restaurant. We were not disappointed, the food was fantastic as usual. Will be visiting again as soon as possible.

Beautiful little chateau on a lovely location. Price-wise it’s ok to stay for a night. We where traveling by bicycles from Holland to Paris. I prefer sleeping in a tent but why not in a chateau for a night. When you look a bit more closely you can see the place is a bit neglected. Staff is not very helpful (to stall our expensive bikes was important and we talked about it before se came but there was no note for the staff or any form of interest - finally it was ok but a bit of a hassle). The maintenance of the wood in the building is pretty overdue. It is probably difficult to manage this huge property. It’s kind of sad because of the grandeur it could have. The food in the evening was not good. I asked before if it was food and they sad yes. My daughter tried the vegetarian food but it wasn’t done, simple and lack of creativity. Meanwhile they keep running around serving peaces of bread all the time. I’m not sure but it seems something wasn’t good. I had to vomit later back in our room. It seems some things didn’t mix up very well. We eat great food along the way in France at exquise and also simple places that was great. Maybe the cook had a bad day. But it wasn’t very cheap. The lady kept me waiting when we wanted to go back to our room. All together fun to sleep in a chateau but don’t take dinner and don’t expect the grandeur from the staff and management running it. Nice try but no. Sometimes it seems better to keep things simple.

Marvelous chateau with lovely garden

Reviewed By Olaf S

We stayed at this wonderful place for three nights. The chateau is like a museum. Our big room somewhere upstairs with seperated bathroom and seperated toilette was nice and color-coordinated decorated. We had garden view from the little window and during our stay it was calm and peaceful. We missed nothing for breakfast: tea, coffee or a cup of cocoa, delicous selfmade jam, some kind of cheese, different yogurts, bread. Everything was fine. A very nice little town close to Valenciennes and a good spot for visiting 'le nord'.

Amazing historic chateau and beautiful stay

Reviewed By matteoquattro

We had a great weekend here. We rented the larger room and we were immediately received by the son of the owner, who very nicely told us the story of the proprerty, showed us all the amenities of our room (rather small apartment) and introduced us to their wonderful dog (only after asking). You get the feeling of a chateau and the family that owns it is very welcoming. We had a very nice breakfast, with products locally sourced, and great relaxing weekend.

Disappointing

My husband and I are seasoned travellers and only write reviews of a negative sort if we feel it important for people to be aware of what they are booking. This is a very impressive property with beautiful rooms in the chateau itself. However, the accommodation rooms are in an adjacent wing on the first floor up a steep flight of stairs. We booked a deluxe twin room which in no way was deluxe, rather basic in what was on offer. The bedding was a duvet with no cover and just a sheet ( never had that anywhere we have stayed)Minimal furniture. There was no accommodation information in the room (i.e booklet )so we did not know what the WiFi was, how to close the blind in the room, operate the heating etc. To find out we would have had to trek back up to the main house.More to the point, there was no information on emergency numbers or procedures and these rooms are on the first floor. The bathroom was modern and good but marred by a lack of towels ( three for the two of us;and no loo roll holder. If you are going to advertise a room as deluxe then it should be just that. This room needs a complete overhaul and upgrade. We got the feeling that income from the accommodation is going to the upkeep of the chateau and therefore they want to spend as little as possible.

Chateau de Yaucourt Bussus

Memorable, unique, bonkers

Reviewed By Rosie W

Superb place - can’t recommend it enough. Firstly they gave us a bigger room/bed because my boyfriend is 6’8. Secondly the breakfast is delicious - home made bread, cake, croissants & jam. Freshly squeezed OJ & strong coffee. Boyfriend had thick, rich hot chocolate. People on here complaining that €10 is a rip off clearly have no taste buds & would spend double that at McDonalds. The breakfast was fresh, homemade and so filling. The housekeeper joined us and was delightful - nobody spoke the other’s language but somehow we had a long conversation. She was brilliant & so kind. The room we stayed in was almost regal & looked onto the lawn with horses nearby - it’s really beautiful. The chateau is a bit run down in parts but it’s 14th Century! It’s got bags of character and charm. Don’t stay in a charmless hotel chain, stay here and have a memorable time!
