Small niggles which could have been resolved

Lovely hotel and lovely food, very limited gluten free options in comparison to other 5*hotels I’ve stayed in. Prices as you would expect in a 5* hotel. Good areas around the pools and plenty of pool towels and beds for guests. Our room was spacious, bed very comfortable and good bed linen. but the bathroom design gives very little privacy and the seals on the shower leaked making the floor dangerously slippy. Coffee machine leaked the whole time we were there in spite of three changes. Although the hotel does not know in advance if their guests smoke we were surrounded by guests smoking on their balconies which meant we couldn’t sit on ours when they were on theirs our leave our windows open. A completely smoke free area would solve this problem. Better communication between front desk and maintenance dept would resolve issues before they niggle the guests. Our room was not serviced until 3-4pm every day which was really irritating if you wished to rest before dinner. Lovely hotel but not quite the standard we were expecting.

Just back from a fantastic stay. Everywhere was immaculate. All staff friendly and extremely helpful. Great pool area, small but perfect for the hotel. No getting up extremely early to claim a sun bed. The breakfast was great, the best breakfast I have ever had abroad with lots of choice. We also decided to have the set meal in the evening which was delicious. Would recommend booking a room with a sea or pool view, to avoid looking out onto the road. Will definitely be back!

Great place for families

We had a very memorable family trip here. The setting of the resort perched on the cliffs above the beach was beautiful. I am relatively new to Club Mes holidays, so I don’t have much to compare with, but there was a great band proving live music on several evenings and this really added a lot of ambiance. Also the quality of the kids show really exceeded my expectations. Generally, I really felt that the resort staff did a great job creating a fun, lively atmosphere and I was surprised that even all of the evening activities felt totally family friendly.

First family holiday

Reviewed By michaelac682

We visited Salgados palm village for our first family holiday, I stayed at the NAU Rafael suites down the road 4 years ago on a girls trip, so I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed with this hotel, We had a junior suite with pool view, Very clean, housekeeping came daily with fresh towels etc, Large rooms, I personally like the wood furniture and think it’s very in keeping with the vibe of the NAU chain of hotels, loved the pool view, can’t complain of any noise keeping us up etc, Beds were comfy, loved the pillows ! Palm trees are lovely on the complex. The pool areas are well kept, daily we saw them being cleaned etc Plenty of sunbeds, And pool towels provided and swapped for clean ones. We named the pools by the restaurants the ‘party pools’ as they do play music and have the inflatable slide up daily at 4pm, but I still wouldn’t say it was overly rowdy at them. but there are 6 other quiet pools to sit around if this is not your thing, our daughter practically had a pool to herself most days. We never had any issues with golfers etc, they all seemed very friendly and we’re out practically everyday playing golf so we barely saw them. Food was good, as expected for all inclusive we mostly ate in the bogey restaurant, eagle was bbq food and smaller with less choice but still worth a try. You could book in one to sit at and go over to the other to get food if you wanted to, Drinks are branded coke, Fanta etc, Cocktails are good, and a huge variety for all inclusive, Malibu sunset is a must try ! Sports bar was good, always able to get a seat in the evening, Kids club does a weekly reptile show which was brilliant !! Free Dotto train to a stunning beach, Spa across the road at the palace available for a charge and treatments available. Lovely photographer during the day and evenings, she takes some lovely photos available to purchase with no pressure to buy ! We used Ubers to get to old town & zoomarine, but price varies through the day so if it’s expensive on the app try again and it comes up cheaper. Supermarket 15mins walk from hotel, Restaurant across the road and a short walk which we didn’t visit, but was always busy, Zoo marine is a must visit if you have kids and only a 10 minute drive Away. Old town is lovely for shopping and food, and the beach/views are lovely. Staff are lovely, I can’t fault the people of Portugal, they were all so friendly. We love this chain of hotels and will definitely be coming back to Albufeira soon.

Situated about 40mins from Faro airport (bolt app it cost €38 in a taxi solo) Amazing drive upto the hotel, nice welcome on arrival. Got given my key and dinner was still being served so I went straight for food. Plenty of options but a lot of fish.. room is amazing!! Best bed I’ve ever slept in. Amazing throughout! I did have a toilet issue which it kept running and I reported it to reception which took 4 visits before they sent someone so I went hours without a working toilet. It kept breaking throughout my stay but the staff at reception didn’t seem to do anything about it I.e move me rooms. I attended a wedding at the hotel and it was incredible! Magical! The ceremony, buffet dinner option dj & fire works! Would highly recommend as a wedding venue! Indoor facilities are amazing a gym, beauty salon, indoor pool and a spa at extra cost! The outdoor pool is amazing and there are kiddie pool areas. Fantastic throughout and loved my stay

We first stayed for one night then had a week in a villa then had 4 nights post villa. First night our flight was 3 hours late so we didn’t get there until 1am so only slept and had breakfast. Our room although clean, had two single beds when we had booked a double which isn’t great with a baby that demands to get into your bed at 3am. The air con didn’t work and the toilet flush was broken. On return the next week we were given the same room we mentioned the issues at the desk which they did say the toilet and air con were fixed and they changed our bed to a double. Which was great. The rooms are clean and spacious, showers nice and powerful but although the air con had been fixed it was really poor and didn’t cool the room down. We did have a supreme room because we were two adults and 2 children, this came with bath robes and a kettle (no plug to plug it in except the lamp’s one on the floor) tea and coffee(but no milk) and a bottle of water. I did request prior for a microwave as we needed to sterilise bottles and warm baby food but was told this isn’t allowed and there is one in the restaurant. Majority of the time we were just bed and breakfast but paid for go all inclusive for the last day and for one other lunch. Breakfast is good some days they had English bacon which was great, eggs and beans, fresh bread and fruit. Pancakes for kids. Lunch was excellent had it twice, lots of choice, had steaks, piri chicken lovely salad bar, nice soup. Now evening dinner was poor, I think it’s because they know a lot of people aren’t coming to it but our dinner there was some salty salmon, veal in mushrooms, octopus and really dry honey chicken. The childrens section wasn’t set up and as my partner is a picky eater and in theory we had paid €62 for 2 adults and a child to eat dinner there I asked where the children food was. I was informed it can be made to order and they did chicken nuggets, burgers and fish fingers. Great I thought but I did think when I saw families wandering around the buffet with little kids that this should be made aware to them that they can order. My partner and son ordered a cheeseburger each which they said was nice, my partner went to order another cheeseburger because he wasn’t eating anything from the buffet and was informed you’re only allowed to order 2 per table. Kind of defeats the object of being an all inclusive, they haven’t bothered to put the children’s table out for them to refill continuously but put a limit on how many burgers you can have per family? My partner did object to this and they did soon change their tune and got him another burger. During the week I took my baby downstairs at 6:30pm to feed him as the microwave is in the restaurant. I walked into the restaurant I said I’m not eating I’m using the microwave and feeding my baby. I walked round the corner and picked up a high chair and a woman that worked there took the high chair off me and said no we don’t open until 7pm. I said I need to feed my baby. She said we have no food until 7pm. I said I have his food but I need to feed to him and use the microwave. She then told me they don’t open until 7 and I will have to sit in the lobby and she will take the high chair to the lobby. I said I’m not leaving my baby in the lobby on his own while I come in here and heat his food up. Honestly I don’t really understand what the deal was they could have just let me feed my baby quickly in the restaurant I wasn’t using any of their napkins or cutlery or bowls. I’d bought my own, but they forced me to feed him outside in the lobby. From the English speaking hostesses it’s really not a great customer service experience to be honest. Majority of our issues were with the restaurant and their attitude. Swimming pool was fine it is cold but I got in it a few times, sun beds are tired, some are broken, some are covered in bird poo, could do with updating. Bars in the hotel, most are closed only have the pool bar and basement bar. Overall stay was ok but needs some improvements.

UPDATED - Good and bad

Reviewed By IJ-Stirling

EDIT TO UPDATE: After my review the guest relations desk manager asked me to visit her, which I did, and spent 15 minutes explaining in great detail my frustrations with the food prices for the quality. Her response was to ask if there was anything she could do to make our stay more pleasurable - when I asked what she meant, she didn’t really say anything. So I walked away confused. If you ask a guest to visit you then you should have something to say to them, not just ask them to basically read out their review. It has left us more frustrated than if she had ignored our review. At her correction I have removed the reference to all inclusive below, as that is not offered here. Which makes the food prices even more questionable. Original review: We are staying here this week and there are good pools and landscaping but CAUTION - the food is very ordinary at very extraordinary prices. 3 nice but average starters with 3 house wines is setting us back near 100 euro. Unfortunately this means we are constantly thinking about the prices rather than sitting back and enjoying the impressive pools and route to the lovely beach. Knowing we need to limit our meals to only starters and no mains due to the price - as we’re not going to feel comfortable at adding another 90+ euro for average mains for our group of 3 - is not the main impression you want to leave on your guests. The buildings are pretty and look brand new, the layout is like a little town, and if you like golf then this should definitely be considered. The service is good, as you’d expect for these prices.

Stayed here for 5 nights all inclusive and were really disappointed with our room location we were in a block that was 5 minutes away from the resort. The food was ok for breakfast but come on who serves rabbit for lunch . Out of 6 days we ate here 4 times that was 3 breakfast and 1 lunch .Was told after we booked no stags or hens but there was a few of both . No spa facilities the lift dont work and also no doctor on site . Still alot of work going on around the complex with alot of it closed off . need to climb 4 sets of stairs to go to restaurant and the evening entertainment was poor . Definitely not a place you'd take your wife or kids oh and dont forget your hiking boots as everywhere is hills . Would I return to Portugal maybe to this hotel definitely not.
