Mr. Charles River View Lodge is an affordable stay while allowing you the escape from the hustle and bustle of the downtown Hsipaw area, Located about 7 minutes ride by Tuk Tuk from the center of town. Our lodge find itself leasantly situatd in a Shan Village between our peaceful River and one of the most picturesque landscapes Hsipaw has to offer. We are able to offer both single and double rooms. Both style of rooms, while offer erring views of our beautiful scenery from the inside, also provide a private balcony both in front and back. All of our rooms, while maintaining the integrity of a traditional Shan Style-Style-Design are able of offer modern comforts and conveniences. Of course these include a private bathroom with hot and cold water, a television, blow dryers as well as a safety box for the safekeeping of personal items.
A little disappointing
Reviewed By sarahbK676OQThe room was clean and nice. The view was great. The atmosphere was quiet because they didn’t have a lot of guests. We liked the dinner that they delivered to our room. I was looking for traditional food and it was exactly what I needed. The beer that you can buy outside for 2200 kyats was 4500 kyats at the hotel! I find it a bit too expensive. At first, everything seemed perfect. But then the breakfast was disappointing. It had nothing to do with the pictures that you can see on Tripadviser. I understand that they didn’t have a lot of guests but they could’ve at least made more traditional fries because they had only a few on the plate and you feel embarrassed if you want more: you leave like 2-3 for other people. Basically, the breakfast was fried rice, fried vermicelli, sautéed beans and a few fried sausages with one fried egg… No coffee and only powder juice. They said they had no customers for weeks. But I don’t see how this can stop you from buying some coffee and keep it for the day you have customers again. Thanks god they had some tangerine! On top of that, the checking out process wasn’t on the level. I was just preparing my bike and took only a few things out. My friend went to the reception to ask for some info before we leave, she didn’t even give back the key. When I get to the room to take the rest of our things, they’re already there checking the minibar and the rest. It felt like we were running away and they were afraid we did something wrong. It left an unpleasant feeling at the end.

Nice Hotel in Nyaung Shwe
Reviewed By saishwebawtheinThe hotel is very near to the boat station for making sightseeings in Inlay Lake. It has a nice view and the price is so worth to stay here. We got excellent breakfast on first day and on second day we had to leave from this hotel in early morning, but they arranged morning box with egg, some fruits and bread toast with jams and yogurt for us. The staffs are very friendly and flexible. The rooms are very nice and clean.

Unpleasant trip
Reviewed By Kaye KKalaw is my favourit place. I visit so many times. Last time I got very nice trips but now I haven't because of hotel. I stayed 2nights at Seint hotel. First day we arrived early so we took early check in, still ok that time. Second day we visited around city. Before we left we told to make housekeeping but no one didn't. They said that FO was forgot to make it. They should link each other. I didn't see any theam work. Another problem is that we want to buy coffee at shop counter but staffs didn't know the price. The last one is about breakfast. It is terrible bad, speakless. The staffs are not sweet I didn't find any smile from them.

Reviewed By jesseg848Rooms: we stayed on the ground floor as the upstairs rooms (which probably have better views) didn't have double beds. Rooms were clean, well appointed, simple but stylish with lots of nice custom woodwork. We had some trouble with the door as it's kind of sticky - to be expected when everything is custom made of wood. Room was very spacious. Good shower with strong pressure and hot water. Nice little seating area in front of each room to socialize. Facilities: Fantastic views, great organic gardens, you can go and pick your own fruits and vegetables from the garden if that's your things. Plenty of space to walk around. Adjacent to some nice hiking trails to go up into the hills. You can feed animals at a nearby farm. Lots of space to run around. Location: a 15 minute ride from town - this lodge is not in the center of Kalaw but well worth the short trip for those who appreciate the serenity of nature. Not really 'walkable' to town so consider either renting a car, bicycle, or motorbike if you want see more of Kalaw. F&B: Solid restaurant - Asian dishes were excellent but some of the western dishes could have used improvement. Good bar and fun happy hour every evening. Breakfast good enough thought not amazing. Staff and Management: Very friendly, strong service, really helpful. Were able to arrange bookings quickly at fair prices. Bookings manager very friendly and helpful. Overall the lodge's team really pulls the experience together. Overall: highly recommend.

Reviewed By Luke BA nice stay, rooms were clean and comfortable, fresh towels daily, a little unfriendly to the environment in that sense but for the money paid it was a real gem. Staff were always friendly and happy to help. There were no western options at breakfast other than a bit of bread but it was okay. The only down side was that there was building works going on throughout the day but most people were out on the lake so not a big deal! We extended twice and were sad to leave such a comfy place.

Perfect stay
Reviewed By Robin OThis was a very good place to stay near Inle lake, only 5min walk from the lake, and 2min walk to the night market. We had a really nice welcoming with some tea, the family is really kind and cute with a lot of good advices for visiting, and the rooms were spacious and clean; all this for a low price (probably the best you'll find around the town) You chose if you want European or Birman breakfast, have the Birman, the shan noodles I had were the best I tried in the whole country! Thank you for everything! You can go there eyes closed, we will if we ever come back! :D

Beautiful lodge in remote location, fairly simple accommodation
Reviewed By roomarshallThis is a beautiful little lodge about 2 hours on a boat south of the main Inle Lake. The accommodation is pretty basic. Our showers were at best tepid and we had to wait for any water at all in the morning. However, this is made up for by the nice rustic, but clean rooms and the very friendly staff. The supper was good, but breakfast plain. I would not plan on staying more than one night, but worth it also for the interesting ride down the channel from Inle. It is also in an interesting village and nearby across the lake is a sake making place and a nice pagoda.
