We fell on our feet here! After a 13-hour drive from Lalibela, my heart sank slightly as we realised the hotel was on a great big roundabout...however we were allocated a room at the side/back of the hotel and it was quiet. We scored almost the same room - just on the opposite side/back - after we'd been in the Danakil as well. There was a huge bed, several sofas, a fridge (unstocked but more to the point we could chill our water), and the best thing of all, a bath. After a long day on the road, a good soak was just what we needed! We ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner and for breakfast, where there was a good variety of food and it was all well-served. It was nice to sit in the bar in the evening as well.

the bed was made, but there was a huge amount of dirt (of many different types) on the carpet, it cannot have been cleaned properly for ages. There was hair, including pubic hair in the barth, and the toilet had not been cleaned properly. Of course we changed rooms, which they vacuumed for us - and it took a while suggesting it was not already clean. Quite a large hotel with facilities that may sund good but... AVOID

Very clean great hospitality, restaurant more traditional than western. Prices at the restaurant are fair prices. For us breakfast was included and it was very basic. Our experience was electricity was cut off during the day. So the elevator did not work, a five story building. A very big and clean room, with an Interesting view.

The rooms in this hotel are enormous. Our bed was a true king; we had a sofa and plush chair and coffee table; a desk; a wardrobe and other places to put things. There is also a large flat screen tv and a refrigerator. The shower was huge, although we never managed to have hot water. The rest of the bathroom is small, but it works. The late lunch of salad and soup we had, as well as the breakfast, were all good. The major problem is that the wi-fi in this hotel only works in the lobby, when it works. And, there is no Ethio Telecom service below the 2nd floor. In addition, they do not provide laundry service at this hotel.

Brana hotel is a luxurious hotel in Aksum where one can truly relax, feel at home, and leave with fond memories and a desire to return yet again. For us, hospitality is an art that uniquely defines us in customer service. Our restaurant is definitely one of the best in town offering both local and European dishes. We also have a bar, meeting hall and banquet room to fit any of our guests needs.
We were booked into this hotel by ETT, it is worse than terrible. Our worst stay in Ethiopia. Wifi non existent, an arrogant and aggressive man at reception insisted were putting in the code incorrectly, until we asked him to put it in for us, and ofcourse it didnt work. to which the response suddenly became there is a problem all over Axum. There was only one plug point in the room, we had to ask for a multi plug. the shower didn't work, again the receptionist was disbelieving! Finally got our room changed and the shower curtain had about three hooks holding it up There were mosquitoes because a high window had been left open and bed had bugs.. nowhere else did we encounter this during our 8 night stay in Ethiopia and we stayed in pretty basic hotels/lodges Most unpleasant stay. As better options emerge in Axum, these guys will have to up their game or continue to rely on ETT to force bookings on unsuspecting tourists

The positive part first. It's well located in Alamata on the top hill, there is a garden/parking space with beautiful mango trees (unfortunately mangos were not yet ripe). But the rooms are really dodgy. We got a double bedroom for us and our 2 kids (including a baby), we had to look for a room were there was water. The hot water was working but not the cold. It was fortunate that we had a bassinet and mixed extremely hot water with cold from the tap. The bathroom was extremely small and the sink almost falling apart. The bed were clean. The night was noisy with the guests eating/drinking at the terrace one level below. The restaurant has a terrace that goes into the garden/yard. It was nice to eat there and the Ethiopian food was alright but the two times we ate there (evening and breakfast) we got twice food that we didn't order. The coffee was not tasting good for the quality ethiopia can provide. And last, the morning we left there was an altercation with a drunk guy spitting at the staff. I also found unused condom near the bed of my daughter, obviously offered by the hotel to its guests... coming back to the positive part: if you intend to stay in Alamata you probably don't have the choice. And it's 1/2h drive (of winding road) from the beautiful lake of Ashenge, near Korem.

I booked online and prepaid, and Hatsey claimed I did not make a reservation. THEY STOLE MY MONEY. I was told if I wanted a room I had to pay again for it even though I had an online reservation that said it was paid and they still would not honor it. Also, the employees barely speak English and the owner is a terrible human being and a thief. I would never recommend anybody to stay here. Terrible business, Terrible Staff, Terrible Owner.

Abebu Pension is clean, welcoming and has wifi and hot water. We stayed here because other hotels were full, but were glad we did. We paid 650 birr for 1 double and 1 single room for 1 night, so good value too. No food or drink, but centrally located and lots of breakfast options around.
