It was built in the Mosteiro de Santa Maria de Flor da Rosa and is comprised of three distinct buildings: the Gothic-style church-fort, the Gothic castellated palace with alterations from the 1500's and the rest of the monastery grounds, in Moorish and Renaissance styles. This Monastery is one of the most emblematic works of the region and one of the most original Gothic buildings in Portugal. Wonderful castle experience

The room had a wonderful picture window looking out to the countryside. The food was great, and of course the staff's hospitality was second to none.

Nice hotel, uncool reservation experience
Reviewed By Alwaystravelling3We spent two nights at this hotel and quite enjoyed it. The rooms was spacious, with a great view of one of the pools. The hotel has two pool areas, even though when we stayed, the outdoor pools were closed. This was a pity, as the temperatures were well above 20 degrees and it would have been wonderful to be able to sunbathe and swim. The hotel has an indoor pool and spa but we did not venture there as the hotel was quite busy with families and due to Covid we thought it might be wise to stay away from that. The breakfast buffet is varied, the staff friendly. We had dinner one night and the food was fine, even though we recommend the 15 minute drive into Ponte de Sor where there are many fantastic and affordable restaurants. The location of the hotel is great if you want to go to the lake. The only thing really worth criticizing is the fact that we initially booked only one night, as we wanted to make sure we liked the place before extending our stay. As we liked it and the weather was inviting, we went to reception and asked to stay a second night. We were told the hotel was fully booked, so no. We then went online, found a room on a booking website for almost the same price we had paid for our first night and booked it. We went back to the reception and told them we had booked a second night, could we please stay in the same room. We were told that we would have to move rooms, as it was a different category of room. Fortunately the room was ready and we moved straight away. It was closer to reception and had a view to another pool, and had an espresso machine. Otherwise it was exactly the same. So it makes you wonder whether they have their act together. They would rather lose a guest than try and accommodate them for a second night? I don’t understand the attitude. In the end it worked out ok, though.

Renovated property but service and food needs big improvement
Reviewed By clontarfRenovated property but service and standards need a lot of improvement. Clearly suffering from post Covid staff shortages, rooms not cleaned until late afternoon/early evening. Front desk staff helpful but waiting staff surly, service slow and inefficient. Food choice is limited and not what you’d expect of a 4 star. is breakfast coffee undrinkable. Drinking water in bedrooms only supplied for first night and not replenished daily. Had to change room as first room was dark and had only one window - bathroom tiny. No soap or body lotion for the five days and tissues not replenished.

Bife is lile bones, beside dishes cold...Hotel is nice, but restaurant is not to be recommend. Next time - we are at leat one a year in this region - we perhaps sleep un the hotel but never more we will eat here again.

We stayed for 3 days and really loved it. Male owner was super nice, had a small chat before checking out. Also the breakfast staff was outstanding, they treated us including our infant son like family

Reviewed By alex4777This small hotel has nice friendly staff. Rooms are big enough for 2 and spotless clean. In front of the hotel there is parking place for your car. After 8pm most of the tourists leave this mountain village and the city gets a special atmosphere. The views from here are beautiful. The hotel restaurant is simple, but good food and wine.

Reviewed By RafaeloAQuinta de Lavandas is an exceptional place for a night (or nights) stay. It is a magnificent mansion outside Costello de Vida. The room is well decorated and was very clean. The breakfast was wonderful, all a person can expect from a breakfast-menu. The owner, Teresa, is very helpful. She knows the area very well, and assisted us very kindly.

A Little Paradise in Parque Natural Serra de Sao Marmede
Reviewed By Jasper vThis place not only has a great view also the hosts (Christina and Paulo) are very friendly and helpfull. They speak German very well. Spacious room and bathroom, nicely decorated and and very clean As a good basecamp for hikes in Parque Sao Marmede. this is the perfect place to relax afterwards at the pool with a view and a glass of wine from the winery.
