There was an issue with WiFi in my room and it was responded to quickly and effectively. Food. Absolutely wonderful. The dinner menu at 40 Euros is a bargain... apertif, amuse boche, breads, starter, soup, main, dessert, and coffee. The food is well prepared and the portions are ample. I note the size of portions is much better than a previous stay seven years ago. Room. I stayed in the suite and love its ambience. Snacks. From 4 PM to 6 PM there is a selection of snacks... sweet and savory. They are diverse and change every day. I am unable to find anything that I would change. Highly recommended.

Reviewed By kneesanThis is a well appointed, spotlessly clean, comfortable hotel with excellent access to the hiking trails in the center of Portugal. This hotel also has lovely outdoor swimming pool where you can swim laps and a decent restaurant. Excellent value!

Reviewed By andradeanateresaThis is a new hotel and it shows. Impeccably clean, excellent options for breakfast and buffet meals at the restaurant. Friendly and attentive staff. We travelled as a family, with 2 children aged 3/5 and it was an unforgettable experience for them. Swimming pool for children plus playground next to terrace tables, so grown-ups can enjoy a drink while keeping the children close and happy. I recommend it especially for families with children. Surroundings are, of course, also stunning. For one full weekend, no adult thought about work. We returned home fully relaxed and hoping to return.

A night after Torre visit
Reviewed By Jean francois CWelcome was very good and the price reasonable. The view from the hotel is very nice day and night. The room was very confortable, clean and well equipted (except the shower which has a door difficult to maintain closed and the bathroom was like a pool after my shower).

Reviewed By klangtestWe spent two nights here and left a night early. The reasons are various, and to be fair to the hotel I should list them. - We came to walk in the Serra de Estrela mountains, but the weather was appalling, so no dice. The Alojamento, which backs onto the main road, is one of two establishments in the same location, the other being a very modern boutique hotel directly in front. We were on the top floor of the old building, so with a fine view of the village and mountains from the dormer window. But on the ground floor you'll see only glass and concrete. The place is not in any way signposted from the road beyond the Manteigas city limits and Google was not our friend, so it really took some finding. There is alas no easy or safe way back to the village on foot along the main road. There is an "inland" path which is good until the last very steep and flinty ascent to the village, something you'd not want to do at night. The staff in the adjacent modern Hotel da Fábrica (which is where you check in and have an excellent buffet breakfast) were without exception very professional, kind, helpful and multilingual. Not wanting to drink and drive, we instead had very good and well-priced wine in the reception area, there being no hotel bar as such. The adjacent Alojamento, a classic C19 (or earlier) stone building with much original furniture, has rather basic rooms and bed, and may feel a touch oppressive for some guests. The WiFi booster did not get a signal to our bedroom at the end of the corridor. The Alojamento is marked as pet-friendly. On our second night a couple arrived with small dog, who was not best pleased to be left alone in their room. Little to be done about that, and I must say here that I am not a dog-lover. Much more difficult was the enormous and very young mastiff roaming around the whole outside area unchained. Apparently un-aggressive, but with a bark fit to wake the dead, at all hours, and at times directly below our room, and large enough - it seems - to be able to knock over a grown adult. You can forget about sitting quietly outside at the little table on the terrace. I've never encountered a canine situation like this in a hotel in decades of travel world-wide. If you are dog-tolerant, good luck, but if this makes you at all nervous, a stay here will be hugely stressful and it might be better, sadly, to STAY WELL AWAY.

Unique Hotel located in a Piece of Paradise

From the pictures on the website we knew it was a stunning hotel but every aspect of it exceeded all our expectations. The hotels interior is absolutely stunning with hints of the famous Portuguese burel wool tastefully positioned throughout. We stayed in the Maria Keil Panorama room and the views from our balcony were breathtakingly beautiful. The breakfast, lunch and dinner were absolutely delicious -5 star! I am a vegetarian and there was so much variety. Not only are the aesthetics, views and food 5 star, the staff are the best I have ever encountered. They are personable and so very helpful. A special word of thanks to Daniella who is an asset to the Casa de Sao Lourenco hotel and to Jose, Alcides and Vinicius all of whom made our stay so memorable. This is a MUST visit, it will not disappoint.

The whole place as well as all rooms are very clean, it is very important to the owner and she puts a lot of efforts on that. The owner is very kind and warm - will do everything for you - advices for trips, restaurants, what to see, what to do. She will listen for any request/need and will do her utmost to meet your needs. Tasty and rich breakfast - all is fresh and at the time you ask for. Elsa took care of us like we are part of her family. It is well located for trips in Serra da Estrela park, some of the trips can start from the place itself without need for a car.

Amazing conditions in the heart of the mountain
Reviewed By RTLBorgesThis small place in the center of Manteigas is run by a couple that will gratefully welcome you in their house. The rooms are super clean and the breakfast is delightful!! Besides these conditions its still possible to go to a room outside to take a deep look in the mountains all around you or to the common room to watch tv. With no doubt is a place to stay if you want to know the trails all around the mountain and Serra da Estrela!!
