Tsara Guest House

This was our best Resteraunt stop in Madagascar

Reviewed By Andre H

This was an oasis of calm and peace after enduring the long journey across Madagascar. It has the feel of a typical French guest house. The food was really good as was the service. As per usual issues taking credit cards so always take cash is my advice

La Case Madrigal

Good for one night in transit

Reviewed By henkbar

Nice cozy place with very French owner. This made communication in English a bit difficult. The dinner is meant to be communal, but we were placed at a separate table because our French was limited. This limited the charm of the place a bit. When you're fluent in French, this is a great place to stay. Otherwise, still good for one night in transit between Tana and the south.

Chez Julienne et Patrick

We have three rooms with a balcony with a beautiful view of the city. Our house is traditionally Betsileo and guests can share our daily life. We offer meals and room service and can also arrange activities with local guides.

Homestay and hospitality

I stayed for 1 night and participated in a cooking lesson with Patrick. They have 2 nice rooms upstairs, with a view. Toilet and shower is downstairs. The house is located in "veille ville" in Finar, the old town. Very peaceful setting. The food is top quality. Some of the best in Madagascar, at very affordable prices. Highly recommended.

Stopped for 1 night while travelling with world challenge. The hotel itself is well managed and you are dealt with professionally upon arrival and departure. The rooms are clean, equipped with electric fans, mosquito nets and en suite bathrooms. There’s a charming courtyard with seating which became very pleasant on the evening, and the hotel has its own pizza oven. Worth the stay

Great owner

Reviewed By James R

This was a great find, it had a comfy bed, a good hot shower. Though famed for its pizzas we went when pizza was off the menu, however we had some very fine french dining. Located close to a bustling market (though up the hill, so not noisy etc) I would go if you get the chance! Like most of the places to stay in Madagascar this is great for a one night stay on a road trip!

Cheap, though not good

Very friendly staff, and a so-so spaghetti, but this place doesn't have much to offer. Cheap, yes. Comfortable, not at all. Also very hard to find. You're much better off staying at the "upscale" Tsara Guest House just down the road. See my review there.

Trop bruyant

L'hôtel en lui même est sympa mais celui ci est énormément bruyant nous avons eu du bruit jusqu'à 22h le soir et le matin à 3h30 y'avait déjà du bruit. Le seul points positif je dirais que c'est l'espace dans la Chambre.

Grim, odd, avoid

Reviewed By Teuchter_11

Arrived to find it looked nothing like on the booking site. A poster discouraging prostitution at reception was not only odd but off-putting as were the biblical tracts over doors. Were informed there was no restaurant as advertised,. Room was large but basic, TV only showed football and that fuzzily. lights went out within 10 minutes. Were given torch by receptionist . Asked for ice for our (own) wine and got 1/2 a plastic water bottle from the freezer. Breakfast bread and fruit . asked for juice and 30 mins later some liquid came. Wifi ok. Very noisy, net to a mosque and foot ball ground. 3 am call to prayer not sleep conducive. Pool filthy, unfiltered, un-pumped and not sterilized or chemically treated As you guessed we scrubbed day 2 and moved on asap.

Very good hotel for the price

Reviewed By Spiuk

The hotel is well located in the city center, close to zoma market. The rom is very clean and comfortable. Of course, it is not a 5 star hotel in Europe, but more than acceptable for staying a night here. In addition, the personnel of the hotel is very very helpful and help us with everything we needed. Also speak French, English and Malagasy.

Hotel simple

Reviewed By Mivolana

Accueil correct. Chambre propre mais sombre. La literie est acceptable. Par contre la salle de bain est minuscule pour une chambre familiale (3 personnes), et ne correspond pas du tout a la photo affichée sur le site de l’hotel. Bon rapport qualité/prix.
