Great experience

Reviewed By eliot280

Just have to say, I’m all around satisfied with the location being in a historical fort of Santa Cruz in the middle of the bay of Horta, the view of all the yachts and marina with Pico island on the back ground is amazing every day. Also I experienced the local food from the restaurant, and the choice of wine was well recommended in deed. The service and staff are great! Highly recommend this experience if visiting Faial Island.

A great value!

Very clean. Staff were welcoming and accommodating of our early morning arrival after the transatlantic flight. Great kitchen and rooftop patio, even a locked storage cupboard for each room. Take into account you are staying near street level in a busy port at the most famous local bar, so expect some traffic and noise at night. highly recommend.

Wonderful guesthouse with a welcoming and helpful host.

This was a wonderful guesthouse with a welcoming and helpful host. Our room was large and clean and could only have been improved by the provision of a fridge and air conditioning. The terrace and garden were tranquil areas in which to relax, read a book while sipping a drink. The location is good for exploring Horta on foot and was only a ten minute walk to the harbour. Where else would you want to stay when in Horta?

Casa BuonVento

Casa BuonVento, located in the heart of Horta, Faial Island, Azores (Portugal) is an ancient house dating from the beginning of 20th Century. It was totally renovated in 2017 with respect for its original “soul” and charme, without compromising comfort. Within walking distance of the house you can find cafes and restaurants to suit all tastes, The Peter Café Sport with its Scrimshaw Museum, the dock and its colourful “murales”, Porto Pim, Monte Queimado and Monte da Guia where you can enjoy a very pleasant view of Porto Pim bay. Also within walking distance there are a shopping mall and grocery store.

Dishonest hosts and severely overrated!

Stayed here for 2 nights, summer 2021. It was miserable. Walls as thin as tissue paper (you can hear your neighbors make love). I caught the owners marking up the cab fare and they attempted to deny it — until I sent them the Horta cab rate schedule. The ensuing What’s App exchange was comical as they were caught with their mistruths (said they knew zero cab divers yet have lived in Horta 20+ years; also denied awareness of the Horta cab fare schedule -- really?) They have since threatened me online in an attempt to prevent me from posting additional reviews but our What’s App exchange is epic. Just don’t stay here. There are way better options in Horta!!
