Best view in coimbra! We travelled early in the morning to coimbra on the bus and had a long walk to the train station and the hotel. We were there early so it was not time for check in. Instead of having to carry around the bags we are able to put them here for free. Thank you!

Amazing and beautiful hotel with history!!!

Reviewed By MomNBucketList

It was very unusual hotel. The front desk person took us to our room in different building near by. They renovated very old building, something like 300 years old, to stylish hotel. Coimbra was situated on lots of hills and the hotel was on top of on of those hills. Hence, our room had great views. There’s a big jacuzzi inside of the room and we really enjoyed it. The room was beautifully decorated and had nice smart TV and small refrigerator with complimentary water bottles, iced tea and beer bottles. There’s nice thick bathrobes too. They gave us welcome cake and champagne. The hotel staff brought our breakfast in a basket each morning to our room. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. They asked us if we wanted our room cleaned when they brought our breakfast but I only asked for new towels and they brought them to us promptly. It was quite a hill to walk up from the main streets but you could take Uber and it’s inexpensive like ~ 5 euros. And since it’s old building, there’s no elevators. But the staff helped us to carry our suitcases up to our room. If they could add little counter space inside of bathroom so we could put our toiletries that would have been great. We’re pleasantly surprised how beautiful and clean our room was. If I go back to Coimbra, I would definitely stay there again.

Historic, Romantic Estate Hotel & Gardens, Great Location

Reviewed By tellUabout

Beautiful Estate hotel and peaceful setting. We drove through the gate after calling by intercom for access, down a long, tree lined entry and got our first glimpse of the stately hotel. A feeling of excitement and anticipation of more than just a place to stay was unfolding. The parking attendant was immediately available, friendly and carried our bags up the steps. The check-in/concierge staff were friendly, efficient and extremely helpful without being obtrusive throughout our stay. The staff recommended and reserved restaurants, touring information, called for taxis, gave helpful hints (go to the ticket office first in order to enter the college library etc.) and they kindly upgraded our room because the a/c was not cooling, and it was unusually hot weather. The two-room suite was located in the main building, mostly private garden views from the 4 large windows with sweeping colorful drapes reminiscent of an older time. The room and bed were comfortable, and the a/c worked so well we slept like babies. Espresso capsules and bottled water supplied in the room each day, an excellent breakfast buffet with garden view and outdoor seating available, fresh squeezed juices and again excellent service. After breakfast we walked in the gardens and on a few of the trails up for a view and back around towards the fountains, the sequoia trees are reported to have been planted by The Duke of Wellington around 1808 and we enjoyed the giant Australian banyan (Ficus macrophylla) that had roots that looked like a giant flowing gown. Read about the story of Pedro and Inez, tragically romantic. The hotel is not far to walk to sites in Coimbra, we walked up and back from the Cathedral (Queen Saint Isabel), we got a taxi up to the College but walked back down to the hotel across the bridge. Visit Conimbriga ruinas, a Roman city archaeological site and museum a short drive south of Coimbra, beautiful. Hotel has a great location. The Arcadas restaurant was excellent, paired with wines, not inexpensive and you may dress in business casual, nice setting. We embraced some of the aged bathroom fixtures and decor as part of the experience of living in history. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly as it was the best hotel and setting out of three excellent hotels during our trip to Portugal. Note: we did not use the spa or beautiful pool as we were mostly site seeing and we enjoyed sitting in the room after our typical invigorating walks. We plan to come back again.

Outstanding staff, lovely room, good location

I was (un)fortunately quarantined for 7 days with covid and was treated with huge amounts of care and kindness by all the staff in Simone's Cafe - they always asked how I was doing and it seemed nothing was too much bother for them. The check-in staff made both myself and my father feel instantly welcome. At the end of the quarantine, I was glad to go but very sad to leave.

Perfect hotel in Coimbra

Reviewed By 548cheris

The Hotel Mondego is the new kid on the block, and we very much enjoyed it. For starters, the location is PERFECT. The rooms are clean and smartly appointed, with a minimalist sensibility. Beds and linens are lovely, and housekeeping is great. The bathrooms are also clean and modern and EVERYTHING works perfectly, including a rain shower head with great water pressure. Breakfast is good; the presentation is not exciting, but the selection is spot-on. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Coimbra.

This is a standard Ibis hotel with the small standard room. The bathroom has a shower and is basic. There is an underground parking garage at Eu7/night. Check in was efficient. The location is good to tour old town Coimbra and the University area. The view of the river park from our room was nice. There are many restaurants within walking distance. The walk to the university is tiring and uphill ! A good hotel for a 1 night stay when siteseeing all day.

Clean and quiet room in the heart of Coimbra

Reviewed By Albert S

My wife and I stayed here for one night and found the hotel to be of good value. The room was small but spotlessly clean and quiet at night. The reception was friendly and helpful and the breakfast at 5 euro per person was excellent. Even thought the hotel didn't have any particular character, it was generally spotless and well maintained.

Modern and trendy

Reviewed By jo_cicco

The Dona Ines is a large, modern and business-orientated hotel in Coimbra. The location is probably not very sexy since it is not in the historical part of the town but a bare 1à min walk will get you there. Rooms are OK, outdoor pool was not accessible during my stay but looked all right. Only a couple of lifts to access upper levels, this is a down (could not find the staircase) if you are in a rush. Breakfast is excellent and I tried once the restaurant which was ok as well with a very helping staff. Large and nice business rooms.
