Beautiful chateau
Reviewed By 55ChrispyA beautiful chateau conveniently located a short distance from the autoroute. We were lucky enough to have our room upgraded, it was spacious and well presented with a tiny balcony overlooking the grounds down to the Indre. The grounds are extensive and you can walk down through the woods to the river where the hotel keeps a small boat which you can use if you feel inclined. Staff were friendly and efficient. The restaurant has 2 menus, one for fine dining and a bistro menu. Likewise there are 2 options for breakfast, full or simple. All are served in the same restaurant below the chateau. We opted for the fine dining menu which was very pleasant. We did feel the décor of the restaurant did not live up to the splendour of the chateau. All in all, a calm and relaxing retreat in the heart of the Loire.

Reviewed By helenehansenA fantastic experience. Make sure you ask for a room with a view of the Chambord castle. The hotel personnel were courteous and efficient; bikes materialized almost the moment we asked about them. The food was fantastic - and I am very particular. The asparagus were crisp, the crudo flavorful and impeccably fresh, the quinoa salad delicious, the apple desert light and sophisticated, the tatin rich and decadent. The salmon was good but not as good as the rest. The breakfast buffet was excellent. The restaurant staff was professional but seemed overworked. Drawbacks : almost none, although were it not for the view of the castle, the room - while comfortable and clean - would have felt a little clinical.

What stood out most for us was the welcome we received on arrival - Bruno and his team couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful! Would definitely visit again.

Our concept is half way between bed and breakfast, gîte or hotel. By renting our Lofts you will have a comfortable luxury accommodation for 2 or more persons : we have Lofts with one bed room, Lofts with 2 bedrooms and even a Loft with 3 bedrooms, that can accommodate a family or a party of 11 persons. Reviewed By Fran SWe spent a wonderful week playing chamber music, and our accommodations at the Suites du Chateau were lovely. The big kitchen and dining area, comfortable beds, and beautifully renovated spaces within the thick castle walls impressed us. We were there during a record heat wave, and it never quite cooled off—so the pool and cooler plunge pool were much appreciated. Performing in the castle’s troglodyte cave was a treat (and it was cool)! Monique and Didier as well as Francis all made us feel welcome.

Reviewed By Oscar BNice room, from where we had a view on the Loire. No noise from outside nor from the airco. The room was cool and dark, well closing curtains. Good breakfast for a reasonable price. Private parking to park the car free. Short walk along the Loire to the citycentre.

Reviewed By lkarpo830858AC was advertised but it didn’t work. Room was like a shoebox with no air. Staff was no helpful with checking in and didnt access with luggage.. Cindy at checkout was very friendly. Garage parking very tight with construction crew.

Ideally located, 30 minutes from Chambord Castle, close to the A10 motorway, on the entrance to the city of Blois, opposite the cinema multiplex "CAP Cinéma" and next to numerous restaurants, the FIRST INN HOTEL has 63 rooms including 3 rooms PMR and is open throughout the year 24h24 thanks to the room key dispenser (reception is open from 6:30 am to 12:00 pm and from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm).
Lack of privacy
Reviewed By kempdjBlois is a good place to be to see the chateaux of the Loire, central, and with good roads to get around. That's where it ends with the First Hotel. Don't be fooled by the sumptuous looking sofa on the picture of the lobby - it is painted onto the wall. If you book a twin room, make sure you are on good terms with the person you are sharing with. The very narrow single beds in a twin room are very close together and the shower in our room ("private bathroom") had one panel of the door screen missing. The other two panels were also see-through although not intended and it was not until we had been there for a couple of days that we realised one panel had been removed or at least not replaced. The blue decor was only matched by the tasteless floor covering, a linoleum intended to look like a carpet. The toilet had no lock on the door and we had to stuff toilet paper into the vent in the bedroom window as a howling gale was blowing through it and there was no way to close it. The room did have the option for a third bed - a pull out at the foot of the two singles. Had we been three and not two this would have taken up all the floor space in the sleeping area. However, the icing on the cake was the full length mirror which was behind the "wardrobe" meaning that once clothes were hanging on it the mirror was hidden. Above this were two tiny shelves, wide enough for socks and pants folded in half.
